I love this basic track inclusion. Maybe the world can get reacquainted with Frank if some clever DJs sample this stuff. Should be nice and easy thanks to those tracks.

Fantastic.

By the by. I haven't read all these posts, but I know there was some discussion earlier about the differenect between the big and little MOFO. Can anyone tell me what is different exactly on the little one?

Thanks.

More like KARAOKE TIME, baby. Unfortunatly, you need two people to do the harmonies justice, and, well,m since I don't know anybody who would join in on "Brain Police?", and have the balls to sing it in front of a bunch of drunk Americans, I guess it's just a dream.

Oh shit.... I didn't even think of that!... Sweet... I love to kill a karaoke party by singing something no one else can sing along to...

You trick them out by singing some Marvin Gaye or Journey. Then throw down some Zappa and clear the room.

I have done Dirty Love, Valley Girl and (shit.. what is the other tune they have for karaoke)... Oh well... I have sung all available zappa songs at karaoke nights... looks like I'll be bringin my own cd next time.

Good freakin' call!

As the Lumpster posted a few pages back...

for those of you who (for some reason) don't want to get both MOFO-sets, here's a list of the tracks which are unique to the 2-CD set:

1. Who Are the Brain Police? (mono) (3:24)
2. How Could I Be Such a Fool? (mono) (2:11)
3. Hungry Freaks Daddy (Basic Tracks) (3:26)
4. Help, I'm a Rock (1970 FZ Remix) (4:43)
5. It Can't Happen Here (1970 FZ Remix) 3:58
6. Watts Riot Demo/Fillmore Sequence (2:07)
7. Freak Out Zilofone (3:00)

and there you go

So for those who've received MOFO, what's your favorite disc so far? I'd have to say Disc 3. Fun stuff!

Taking disc 1 out of the equation (hey, it's Freak Out!), and considering that Disc 4 is predominantly interviews...it basically splits down into:

a) If you loooove the Monster Magnet/HIAR stuff, Disc 3 will be your pal.

b) If you're into the Pet Sounds Sessions-ness of it all, Disc 2 will be your pal.

By the way, has anybody figured out what's different about those Bob Stone mixes of "Freaks" and "Brain Police" on Disc 4 are? They sound kinda like the standard '95 mixes, only verbier. Bah.

What I will do is create a playlist that is basic tracks and next what I will do is create a playlist that is mono tracks and vocal overdubs and next what I will do is...between the 2- and 4-CD set and all the previously released CD's with early FZ (Lost Episodes, Mystery Disc, Joe's Corsaga, et al.) there's some really cool combinations to play with.

I received mine last night but I hadn't had a chance to listen to it. I was still burning it to my hard drive when I left for work this morning. The discs were such a bitch to get out of the case, I'll probably never take them out again.

For initial favorites, its all the versions of "You Didn't Try to Call Me" and the live stuff.

Haven't heard Frank speak in so long, I forgot what big, bundle of contradictions he is: one interveiw he not only says the record sells, but says "Lovely Rita"'s a rip-off! Then, in the 80's, he says the album tanked, and no one was influenced by it. Beefheart said it best: "What a card!"

Still haven't got mine even though it shipped more than a week ago. This is why I prefer buying music online in down-loadable format. After I rip the CD's into iTunes I'll probably never touch them again. Seems kind of wasteful to me.

Ah, but for once, the packaging is important.

Oh crap, now I know what's in it, I'm gonna have to order this MOFO set now. Both freakin' sets, so I can have all the tracks. I've never heard the original vinyl stereo mix.

Looking forward to receiving well after Xmas (I am in the UK :( )

The booklet is a good read by itself. Just opening the CD package reveals a quote from FZ.

You won't get the fun of reading it on a download.

BIG MOFO has arrived in France today ! :D

I just love the packaging. So unique and out of the ordinary. It even smells funny ! (True. It smells just like my kids' swimming pool toys :) ).

Now moving on to the impossible task of removing the cds from their hubs. I've just spent three minutes around Disc one without any progress. I simply do not want to break it down, but I WANT TO HEAR THE FOUR HOURS OF MUSIC TODAY ! ;) ;) lol
