Terry Bozzio is not credited on the Läther album for Greggery Peccary, although he did play a little drum on the end there.

Putting a dot between my (real) first and middle names, in the MOFO booklet, so it looks like two seperate names. (just plain doug, again!!)

ADN stands for Ácido Dessoxiribonucléico or DNA, in French, Spanish and Portuguese...

I'm gonna take a crack at this

1) TEH (Grand Wazoo)
2) TEH (Mothers)
3) Frnak (Zappa)
4) Steroe
5) Calvan
6) ADN
7) TO (should be Two)
8) Should be THE (Grand Wazoo)
9) GRADN
10) wirtten
11) Mucis
12) Recerds

those were my initial catches (I actually made a mishtake in counting)

things I didn't catch

Hitch-Hikers should have a hyphen
Wrong font for 6:55 and a hyphen with no space between -6:55

Great label!

Didn't think of looking down there and then I also see "Communictions" Company. This has to be some sort of record.

also, good eye

these 3 were not included in the original 13:

the lp cover has the grand wazoo & hitch-hikers on the back & the inside, the bpr old masters lp is probably the de-facto correct version

the grand wazoo
argentina
mexico
us bpr [om3]

grand wazoo
canada
italy discreet
italy reprise
netherlands
us reel
greece
japan
uk
us bizarre

hitch-hikers
japan
us bpr [om3]

hitchhikers
canada
italy discreet
italy reprise
netherlands
us reel
greece
uk

mexico

those two, plus the font are the only legit mishtakes, the list of 12 covered 11; lumpy got one more for a total of 12

... our big prize tonite is 50 american dollars to max webster for finding the last one

shit, I missed that one! 8)

did ya get that one from max, slime? would that make it 13?

anyway; why is it called "teh grand wazoo sampler"?

and, the 's' in "sampler" is a tiny bit smaller font size than the rest of the word...

that last one was mine, the 3 from max not on my original list were: the gw, hitch-hikers, & the different font on 6:55 ... should be 6:05 btw

the sampler ideology discussions

on feb-04-07 @ 8:06 am, trendmonger wrote:
There are many Samplers and Compilations that are not part of The Official Frank Zappa Discography and this is one of them. This is a Sampler Project and was produced by Frank specifically as a Sampler. It is not part of the Official Discography and it does not get a # in the Official Discography. If all of Franks Sampler projects were placed in The Official Discography the number of Projects it the Official Discography may be 120 instead of 79.

There are many Compilations and Samplers made for Radio and some even for distribution where a fan may purchase that item but these are not included in the Official Discography for these items may not be considered Projetcs in the same manner as those 79 items listed in The Official Discography.

Many of these Samplers,Compilations or 45s may be viewed seperately from releases that are Specific Projects as listed in Teh Official FranK Zappa Discography. So when we loook at a release that gets one of these # such as Trance Fusion has a release # 79 remember it is a PROJECT with a bit more of a scope focus than just some Sampler.

Trance Fusion was a Projetc not just some Compilation of Guitar Solos. A Sampler ideology on The Official Catalouge is what I have been questioning. Calling them SAMPLERS is disrespectful to the artisstic integrity and or scope of the Project.

In the case of the many RYKOCompilations I feel the ZFT made a great decision omiting or let me put that more direclty, deciding to never include these in The Official Zappa Discography.

This is another point that seperates Franks Projects from Sampler Ideology. Each one of those Projects had a scope. Even when Frank made Have I Offended Someone ? that project was put together as a Project where it is more than a compilation or collection of hits/misses.

The MOFO booklet also says: "NOTES ON THE COMPOSTIONS...". And, correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't there be a 'c' in Joe's Lacksadaisial on the new AAAFNRAAA birthday bundle?

It's the hip way to spell it. If you're cool, you don't need any c.

There's also a redundant s. I think you'll find that lacksadaisial is the lackadaisical spelling.
