The ripping solo clinched it for me. 8)

Me too! Love it, I mean. But the vocals are obscuring it, so I don't think it comes out as the best track on this album.

It borders on the ridiculous: a fine instrumental mix with an added voice way too close. And nothing to gain from the lyrics either. An example of bad judgment along the line that adding vocals would make it more accessible.

Point of order: The poll regards your favorite track to listen to rather than the "best" track.

Now that i've thought about it, the way FZ altered that piece does indeed obscure a bit of its majesty. What was previously a wonderfully frenetic conclusion to an epic multi-part piece became something to be regarded as kind of a throwaway.

Sam!!!!!

Opaque melodies that would bug most people.
Music from the other side of the fence.

Says it all!!!

This is my favourite Zappa album.
It's the very first thing I ever heard from Frank Zappa
and I love it! All of it!
But when I got the record home (I was a fifteen year old then)
and put it on not knowing what to expect, Debra Kadabra scared
the living fuck out of me! It's so terrifying cranked up!

And when it busts into Carolina Hard Core... it's so dramatic!!

good times good times

Particular about the point it made.

The music was thud-like!

"Debra Kadabra" is insanity, but lately "Carolina" has been hitting me every time.
