For The Young Sophisticate.

I love the lyrics and the little guitar licks. (Is that Cucurullo?)

I've voted with the majority.

Fine girl is such a great song...those harmonies at the end that gradually become cacophony...blows me away every time. Easy Meat is about 10000 times better on Volume 5 of YCDTOSA, but zappa's solo on this one is a monstery

Sorry for resurrecting this thread from the tomb, but I just had to comment.

I got this album last Friday because it was something I hadn't yet seen at Best Buy, it was $10, and it had "Brown Shoes Don't Make It". Easy decision!

So I get around to listening to it and the rendition of "Brown Shoes..." is entertaining but can't even begin to touch the original, thus I give the rest of the CD a shot and put it on in the background.

It's a great album but "Fine Girl" and "Easy Meat" are worth the price of the entire disc! Holy crap these tunes blew me away. Eventually I had to give my vote to "Easy Meat" because it's longer. I like Zappa's solos, but for some reason the part in EM that really gets to me is when the keyboards kick in and it sounds like Disney World or something. After that of course is the great solo and then back to the main theme. Incredible shit. So how does the version of EM on YCDTOSA Vol. 5 compare to this?

Again, sorry to bring up old shit, but I'm still new to Zappa so I'm discovering this stuff long after most of you people.

There is no need to apologize, Doktor. Please feel free to bump all of the album poll threads. There's no time limit, so these polls are open from now until eternity.....or until the forum crashes, whichever comes first.

I would like Easy Meat much better if it had no vocal parts

I voted for Ain't Got No Heart, although it was hard to pick just one song. My favorite thing about this song are the vocal harmonies... that last chord of the song just kills me!

I chose Easy Meat because in spite of the stupid lyrics it's an epic number. I really like the versions of earlier released numbers on this album as well.
