This album contains the best version of Billy The Mountain; great instrumentation, with Underwood (I assume) playing woodwind as opposed to a synth at the beginning, and let us not forget the awesome instrumental section and the new and improved -over the JABFLA version- vocal work from Flo & Eddie. In short, this version is excellent and gets my vote hands down.

Billy the Mountain. I like the extensions in the "Studebaker" section.

Maybe Underwood just added some electronics to that clarinet in the JABFLA version. Similar "synthesizer" like tone is heard at the abandoned intro for YCDTOSA1 version of "Sofa #1", but Underwood is credited with "electric clarinet" for this one. That's how I take it anyway. Underwood is credited on winds for JABFLA and I can't hear a single other sax or clarinet part anywhere else on that album. So I assume that Underwood is on a synth-processed clarinet on JABFLA.

Intro To Music For Low-Budget Orchestra>Billy The Mountain

I look at this as one piece of music. I voted Billy itself.

Hey Jimmie D,
I'm surprised I didn't notice before but the adverbial phrase 'off of' is not considered correct modern English usage, especially since the preposition 'from' would both read and elucidate your direction more plainly. You also then, would not need a comma which is extraneous and superfluous in said direction.
I guess I didn't notice it because I try to stay away from polls which tend to be a divisive instrument rather than a fruitful one, much like political threads I am sad to say.
Of course, I would not have brought this up as I don't give a shit about grammar, frankly, except when I see someone continuously point out the mistakes of others. Then I can't help myself.

Have a nice poll 8)

These particular album polls ask "which is your favorite listen?" rather than "which is the best?".............
So far, only Trendmonger and you have posted that they are devisive. He didn't get it, either.

hahahahhahaha!!!!!!!

No, I 'get' it. Still, the 'my favourite band is better than your favorite band' is just a half a step away, for those inclined to take that next step. Otherwise you're stuck with the squealing-teenage-kids screaming in unison 'That's MY favorite song tooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!"

But I guess if you make the rules clear to everyone which is what you seem happy to oblige in tellin people that that's all their doin', I guess there's no harm.

Eeewwwww, I just sounded like the brain police. I don't like rules: they're not my friend <carefully tiptoe-ing away>

Another one that I really dig (and that has no votes at all) is the rendition of Sleeping In a Jar. 90 seconds of nothing but the band playing awesome instrumental melodies, interspersed with great FZ guitar licks. And with great energy.

I think Billy the Mountain is a very weak song. My most unfavorite.

I voted for Billy The Mountain also. Is this version about the same as the uncut one from JABFLA?

don't bother helping calvin out.

he's just messing with us. he does not like these zappa albums polls.
he tries to make fun of them by making stupid posts.

I think he needs a hobby.
