A sampler CD is mentioned in some places as Zappa Records CDZAP 7, but is this sampler CD a myth?
I haven't found it even on eBay for 3 years looking for it, has anyone seen it?
I already have the LP edition.

I already know both UK & US LPs:
Image Image

As it seems that Zappa Records made 3 series with the same numbering:

• LPs labelled ZAPPA n
• Cassettes labelled TZAPPA n
• CDs labelled CD[D]ZAP n

• Freak Out!, CDZAP 1
• Hot Rats, CDZAP 2
• Uncle Meat, CDDZAP 3
• Cruising With Ruben & The Jets, CDZAP 4
• Guitar, CDDZAPPA 6
• YCDTOSA Vol. 1, CDDZAP 8
• YCDTOSA Vol. 2, CDDZAP 9
• ...

I deduce from your answer that the sites who mention a CDZAP 7 catalog reference could have just misinterpreted the LP reference ZAPPA 7.

According to ze Zappa patio, the sampler WAS, indeed issued on compact disc. No myth.

Back when they had the "cassetulent frenzy" at Barfko-Swill, where you could order 30 tapes for $100, the "Stage" sampler was available, but hidden.

It wasn't listed, but came with YCDTOSA # 2 as the second tape. The Helsinki show itself was edited down slightly to fit on one cassette, so by adding the sampler, they listed it as a 2 tape set. As I recall, there wasn't anything not already on 1-6 in this sampler.

The sampler versions of "Dickie's Such An Asshole" and "Cosmic Debris" are different from the versions on You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore Vol. 3:

Zappa Patio

Quote:
Unique Versions of "Dickie's Such an Asshole" and "Cosmic [sic] Debris"
It has an otherwise unavailable version of "Dickie's Such an Asshole". It doesn't have the introduction by Marty Perellis, it doesn't have the ending sing-along, and the middle section is edited differently:

Only on the sampler:

Loaned a couple of Bebe Rebozo,
Loaned a couple of Pat Boone,
Loaned a couple to Ronald Reagan,
And loaned a couple to the new vice-president,
He said he'd be on my side,
He said he'd stand by me through thick 'n' thin ...
Until they impeach me,
And he said he'd never let 'em,
He said he'd never let 'em do it -
I said: "I believe you",
I said: "Hold on",
I said: "I never cheated on ya,
I never lied" ...

Only on volume 3:

Bebe,
Somebody,
Ronald,
Somebody,
Who
Was it?
Who?

Also, the end of "Cosmic [sic] Debris" is from a different show. The edit occurs somewhere around "Don't screech it, don't screech it, boy, on me".
That's not true. It was officially released as (Zappa Records CDZAP 7, June 1988). Perhaps you were too young to have noticed this when it was released, or maybe it wasn't sold in stores in the UK. I remember (here in The States) that Tower Records had a huge YCDTOSA SAMPLER display immediately inside the front entrance. Very prominent...couldn't miss it.
I've read this Patio page you are refering to thousands times and this is precisely the reason why I am looking for such a record. However a bunch of clues (I don't mean proofs) make me doubt:

• I never saw it on eBay in three years. This is uncommon even for quite rare items. This is actually the rarest item I have ever been looking for.
• Nobody reported to have it.
• CDZAP was the prefix used by Zappa Records for the UK releases, right? So US CDs should have also been published following the Barking Pumpkin numbering instead with a catalog number like D2 74213 and a bar code = 013347421322.

I would really like you were right. My LPs will not last forever (so the others), I just wish I could backup these two unique tracks directly from a digital source.

Never seen a cd of this..

And here is a quote from vinyl vs cd page

Quote:
NOTE: We're now almost 100% positive this was never actually released

But vinyl vs cd mentions a double cassette of volume 4

Quote:
Double cassette (Zappa Records TZAPPA40)

I never heard of this
Can anyone confirm this???

The quoted note was written following many discussions I had with the Zappa Patio owner and a few other fanatics.
There was a small Zappa Records catalog in the first European Playground Psychotics box (Zappa Records CDDZAP 55).
In the list, TZAPPA40 is mentionned as released and YCDTOSA sampler as planned.

Are you sure? A European edition (Zappa Records CDDZAP 17 with barcode 5016583601720) is mentionned in many places. It would be really bad if it could not make it to the UK.

So I said bullshit about the sampler CD because the hypothetical reference CDZAP 7 is not listed there...

Pictures of the holy grail would be highly appreciated by a vast community of collectors.
As well, I believe several people would be interested by the clean digital version of unique tracks 11 & 12 (Dickie's Such An Asshole & Cosmic Debris).
You are probably aware that you could earn hundreds of dollars by selling such a thing on eBay.
The Japanese company Disk Union once edited a promo papersleeve without a CD. However I dunno if it is the LP cover replica or something else.
