Got mine today and just finished listening. It's got MAJOR guitar playing by Frank in his prime. On that front, it is excellent. On the "cool alternate versions of well known concert favorites" it also rocks. I love the spelling out of MAR-JUH-RENE; it's the same version he played when I first saw the Mothers in 73.

But in the area of NEW MUSIC there is almost bupkis. I want the new material from the vault. Where the hell is it?

'Dance Me This' has fallen victim to the big L.A. earthquake, when was it - uh - 1996 (?), just as the Rage and the Fury masters did, along with the Roxy 16mm footage and a BMW 635i Coupe.

This release is extra excellent in all the ways complementary to full concert releases. I hope we see more cruising for build reel burgers in daddy's new car. Mar-Juh-Rene has always been a special bit since it was on the first tape I ever traded, and it's so fucking cool to hear the official road recording. That band deserves a full show, if any does. Hilarious to hear the audience cracking up...

I think the first half fulfills the promise of FZPTMOFZAMT and the third disc of Lather from so many years ago, and the second half is made up of the kind of nuggets we expect nowadays from the vault, alt-edits, original solos, rarities, premiere performances (or close enough).

A hearty, hefty addition to the official canon. If you like music, that is. MORE! Please! Just like this one! How about a 10-disc box set of build reels? That'll beat the boots. Witha bullet.

And septidecant? Whoa! Where you been livin, Receda?

One is a toss off blues jam. The other is a jam remnant. Both are nice, but NOT really new material, as in adventurous Frank music we all know and love. Catch your knee, it's jerking.

For instance, if FZ had pieces copied and put onto build reels and then the show masters came up missing. Conjecture only, I don't know. I did email Joe to see if he knows if there's any more tape from these shows . . .

Clue number 1: Build reels do not necessarily contain 'copies' of anything. They just might be a one shot deal. As in, we may never find the source, the source may have things missing which we may never find, et cetera ad infinitem. We are dealing with the material world - boxes - not the systems of storage inside the memory of FZ. That map is gone forever. I am not going to apologize for what people think is missing. As riddles go, the ONLY thing missing is the man himself. His WORD remains, whether it is in whispers or at 11 on the amp or in a language unintelligible at this time to some. What we have to offer you is EX Amples.

Well, I'll take Clue number 1; as is.

Yes, I can't really offer an opinion on the new release as I don't have it in my hands yet (hopefully tomorrow). But *any* of Frank's build reels are certainly welcome! :D

I hope one day to have my plea's heard.
I would love one (if not all) of the OZ '73 tour shows released officially.
One of the most criminally under released bands of all of FZ's ensembles. I've often wondered if it was due to the perceived falling out FZ and JLP had.
It's nice to hear that there is something from them on OSD, can't wait till that fucker gets here.

Agreed! As I was saying in the "FZ Shows" section, 6/24/73 is my absolute favorite show to-date! (35th anniv. coming up in just a few days...) I would shell out BIG CASH for the vault's materials from that OZ tour!

PETROPOLIS for several years already helps many tourists to learn a lot of interesting information about history and art of Saint Petersburg and to understand better peculiarity and the special spirit of the city. Our offer - individual tours - will give you an opportunity to admire the most beautiful sights of Petersburg and to get a lot of interesting information with no hurry and in a friendly atmosphere.

Saint Petersburg is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It represents a perfect combination of logical spatial composition and linear street layout with the wide openings of squares, tall verticals of its towers, figured railings, arch-shaped bridges and granite embankments - all these elements joined together to form a single work of art. And we're very glad that you've decided to visit our city.

We understand that it's not easy to choose optimal way of getting acquainted with a new city.
˜ If you go by bus, you don't have enough time to get detailed information about the city during the excursion. The bus goes fast and guides usually narrate only about very important landmarks. But so many unique places of the city can be set aside!
˜ If you're in the guided group, you're always in hurry and you can't organize your time. Usually you're told the standard information for "average" tourist and don't have enough time to ask for the information you're interested in.

There is the optimal variant for you - individual tour!
