Hi,

I just bought the first serie of the japanese LP covers CDs :
- "Sheik Yerbouti"
- "Zappa in New York"
- "One Size Fits All"
- "Hot Rats"
- "We're Only In It For The Money"
- "Freak Out!"
- "Apostrophe"
- "Over-Nite Sensation"

I must say they are sooo nice!

The new serie is :
- "Strictly Commercial - The Best Of Frank Zappa"
- "You Are What You Is"
- "Fillmore East, June 1971"
- "Chunga's Revenge"
- "Weasels Ripped My Flesh"
- "Uncle Meat"
- "Lumpy Gravy"
- "Absolutely Free"

Does anyone have info on future release? How far will it go? :?

Many thanks in advance :)

Olivier

Videoarts do not often announce their release plans. However you can watch the Jbook catalog which is... in Japanese. IMO, this is the most up to date source for Japanese releases.
If you need to translate the page, you can install a translation plugin in your navigator. It will usually not translate the exact title, so you may sometimes have to guess by yourself what could be the closest title 'phonetically speaking'.
Sorry but I don't know any easier way.
FYI if I remember correctly, the releases you are talking about were announced around January on this site (and on Tower Records as well). As of today there is nothing else in their listings.

Don't mingle the original Vack 12xx series from 2002-2003 that are OOP for a long time and the Vack 13xx reissue series from 2008.
The series destroy is talking about were respectively released on 05.21.2008 and 06.18.2008. The release order of the albums has nothing to do with the first issues from 2002.

Okay, I get it, we are not inline.
SUAPYG with catalog reference VACK 1240 (the one you are talking about) is likely out of print.
However SUAPYG is going to be rereleased with catalog reference VACK 1347. And this last one seems to be available for preorder until August 13th 2008 on the Yahoo store. Then it will be finally available in some stores on September 24th 2008 as per mentionned by Frogfog.

Just an assumption but maybe the difference here between Ryko and Videoarts is that Rykodisc reuse the same catalog reference over and over, even when they decide to use a different master. While Videoarts may use a different catalog number for each batch.
I also guess that the previous SUAPYG batches VACK 5042/3, VACK 5112/3/4 & VACK 5247/9 that were respectively issued in 94, 95 & 96 were just identical copies of Rykodisc RCD 10028/29 repackaged with a booklet in Japanese.
So IMHO the only difference between VACK 1240 and VACK 1347 is very likely the catalog number and nothing else.
Some stores may still have a stock with reference VACK 1240, but who does actually care if it's the same?
