No, it mustn't be an april fools. That would be too cruel. I think it's the real deal.
All this "watch the skies" business must be some kind of clue. Maybe Bat Chain Puller is on the way. It can fly right? Or it pulls something that can fly? I can't really tell.

This is funny, DC, because I think some of the drum tracks on 'Hammersmith' are super-ambient -- listen to the thud bouncing back from the walls during 'Torture' & 'COTL' (I think), or during the encore medley -- exorbitantly wet-sounding for a FZ live recording, even the vocals, in places, have the same hangar feel. I have a hard time imagining that any of the 'Hammersmith' material has even rudimentary FZ tone-tweaking on it. Both mix and master feel as anti-FZ as they could possibly get, IMO --

Huh...maybe some kind person of American descent could be so nice and tell us overseas folks what this last-week message actually means -- sort of --
What about that 'Watching-of-the-skies' - is this the ZFT up dere? And we're down here? Is this gonna be the price tag with wings?

Don't you think that Zappa's mixes are more spacious/wetter, if you compare TTNS from YCDTOSA 1, Peaches from Tinseltown Rebellion or the entire Sheik Yerbouti album with the respective HO versions?

It's been over a year now since the last "fz audio documentary project/object" release. Complete Hot Rats sessions 7 disc set?

These Scully 4-track ambient recordings have a lovely underwater feel, I agree. :smurf:

Large portions of the solo sections (e.g. Yo-Mama, Tomago) are again the little Scully:
'I didn't own a recording truck then, and all live concert tapes were being done on a Scully 4-track at 30 ips with Telefunken C-40 noise reduction. We were printing two stereo pairs taken ambiently with AKG stereo mics. Audible background hiss is the result of a whole stage full of amplifiers idling, combined with residual noise inherent in the recording'. (FZ in The Guitar World According to FZ cassette linernotes )

I guess the days for great patented FZ-treated live percussion sonics are gone forever (insert a few minutes of Bozzio hitting it on the BS soundtrack here -- this is the one for me -- an entirely different story - bright and tight and no 'thudding' quality whatsoever)

I remember something along the lines of a 1971 200-Motels-scored-music-only multichannel release (DVD-A? SACD?) -- Wouldn't '011 be the year for that?!?

Unless Obama's going to bring them back a little bit later --

In any case the next release should be a dvd-audio again. They sound fantastic. What's about a sequel of Halloween ? Where's the "whole collection of stuff, that we don't normally do" ?

I am hoping it is the Ponty stuff Gail said was gonna come out this year. That period is only represented on Piquantique which sounds terrible.

ahhaha, buffalo voice!
"Ladles and Jellybeans we've been receiving reports of a ginomous slurping sound making it's way along the Atlantic Seaboard. There've been reports from NewJersey that the pre-gelatinous mixture has not - repeat - HAS NOT solidified into any recognizable form. But face it, folks. It is a dessert. Furthermore, international notices posted since November have repeatedly made claims that all is needed is a little heat and a tremendous amount of what folks in the industry call 'elbow grease'. But this has not been independently confirmed. Meanwhile smoke continues to rise from the utility muffin research kitchen and hungry consumers everywhere have held their breath til their ears and noses turn blue, their throats have become raw and irritated and feverish muted cries of 'My eyes have glazed over!' echo into the distance. All to no avail. So, yes, the fromage has not set. Back to you BV."

Hahhahaha, punky, remember the EM rehearsing their Struwwelpeter routine in Frankfurt back in '92? Here's what could be the consequences of letting people tell you to 'Watch the skies:'

Youtube is full of great FZ performances that never even made it to bootlegs. I watch them all day at work.

I really don't like complaining about stuff like this but what does coming right up mean?

In Jamaica, where I have visited several times "Soon come" seems to be best described as about 5 minutes before you would go insane waiting for (whatever was to "soon come").

You betcha! Longest wait I've ever had at a fast-food joint: 4 ice-cream cones at a Burger King = ~30 mins
But DAMN did it taste good when I finally got it - ha! (goat's milk and grape nuts)
