Zappa didn't like the term art, but he did speak of music as a means to improve the quality of one's life. Steve Vai has picked up on that, and in the liner notes for Imaginary Diseases he writes about how much Zappa's music enhances the quality of life. I can totally understand that. I also happen to enjoy Loose Fur, and their music is good for the quality of my life, and I think it would be good for other music fans. But you must be very content in your good old ways, so happy days to you.

Without trawling myself, anyone quickly able to inform me as to why renditions of Yo 'Mama and Wild Love were omitted from this set (i.e. did Joe, Gail or anyone else affiliated with the release address such)?

I be merely curious (and I could speculate some possibilities myself, of course); I'm actually pretty pleased with this one, and find it more than satisfactory, if not spellbounding (on performance and SQ grounds; I know some find it overly compressed and/or lacking in the bass department).

I really enjoyed this one too. I'd guess any lack of bass is due to no overdubs. Everything sounds fine here.

None available, FZ used sections of the London versions of these songs on Sheik.

Thanks for the info; I was presuming that he only used basic tracks from one performance of those tracks, across the dates, but that makes sense- that he'd consider and probably use bits he liked from the individual takes, across the nights, when configuring them for SY- and would, of course, explain their absence from this set.
