Ive read that there are over 400 compositions of various stages left in the vault of synclavier stuff that has not been released? Why haven't they released anything yet? It's been 17 years since he died and only one synclavier song has been released; "grand wazoo". Give us something synclavier already.

In Todd Yvega's head?

Perhaps he will say something about it at the Roundhouse today.

I am fairly confident that at any given point the Zappa.com user flames will follow this post
but here's a toast to optimism and note of correction regarding FZs Synclavier work.

Off the top of my head there are three Official Frank Zappa projects that contain Synclavier material
since Frank Zappa passed away close to 17 years ago.

Civilization Phase III
FZ
Official Release #63
Originally Released: December 1994
Produced, Compiled & Edited by: FZ

The Lost Episodes
Frank Zappa
Official Release #64
Originally Released: February 1996
Produced by: FZ

Congress Shall Make No Law
Zappa

Official Release #88
Released: 19 September 2010
Label: Zappa Records
Catalog Number: ZR 20011
Music composed, performed & recorded by Frank Zappa

I'm guessing (sadly enough) that the Ascolta relationship has fizzled? Otherwise they'd be at the Roundhouse, right? I was really hoping for the rumored release of their live takes coupled with the orig. syn recordings of SAMBA FUNK and UNCLE SAM (I think that's what it is called). Oh, well.

Lost Episodes

Congress Shall Make No Law

CPIII aside, which was delayed from Frank's living days, and surely could have been a 1993 release, this is about 4 and a half minutes of Synclav, 2 something of which were already released in a different form -- that leaves the 'Grand Wazoo' backing and a bit of clank-age on 'Congress' as the only truly new material -- or, spread over a 17-year span, 7 seconds of new Synclavier stuff per year -- Bravo, Trendy! And still no DMT!

There's a pretty detailed review of the Roundhouse QA session over at KUR, written by Theydon Bois, and very interesting additional comments by A. F. Harrold.

Unfortunately, the session was disturbed by abusive hecklers, but Todd was able to give some essential information about the technical problems of retrieving the synclavier material.

And, if all the problems are solved as expected, Dance Me This should be out before 2012!

I take that as a sincere commitment, and feel that there's a new transparency emerging from the Family, when Gail allows Todd to speak matter-of-factly about real technical issues.

Good move.

Hecklers? WTF? Who is stupid enough to think that heckling is a viable way of doing anything?

And there is this >> http://globalia.net/donlope/fz/unreleas ... _This.html

An album completed by FZ himself with all new music on it that still has not been released.

I read that review. Sounded like an excellent time. Wish I could have went. The heckler's don't help the cause. It's a bummer that something like this won't happen in the USA anytime soon if ever.

Glad to hear that DMT and Bat Chain Puller appear to be close on the horizon as well as a potential JL Ponty era vault release. Even the mention of an '88 DVD release being considered sounds promising, albeit, low on the prioriy list.

I just busted my ass to try and find the synclavier version of the valdez score (which is almost completely different than outrage at valdez) parts one and two. Finally found it. Not the greatest quality but it is still fucking awesome.
Did anyone have the chance to listen to this yet?
