I honestly don't know what to expect from this one. I hope I'll like it. I'm sure The Rage and the Fury is great, if they've managed to protect and preserve it. They sure have managed to protect those albums from the hands of the fans for almost two decades now

You're an artist, Cal. Can you design a cover for my kids' first album with recorder solos.

If the muse hit you, you might even be able to spell.

Of course you can, I just couldn't resist. I mean, what else is there to do while we wait for this thing? And how did that nut adjustment go on your neck?

You know, Frankenstein's monster. Just having a laugh. Calvin once made a comment about adjusting the nut behind the keyboard (tee hee).

Some day it will be too late to release something that completely relies on a technical toy from the eighties.

When? And completely? What about the mind of the composer? Who planned the patterns for the movement of the air molecules.

I personally don't know. But I think they wait too long to release the important stuff. Sooner or later it could be too late. There is decreasing public interest in Zappa anyway. People who didn't live in the 60s/70s/80s seem to have no relation to things like FZ and the cultural background of those days. My opinion: the ZFT is wasting time and money with releases like Hammersmith, Philly, etc. The majority of ZFT releases is unimportant and doesn't add much to the legacy. They should release the rest of his finished projects and take care of the official lifetime catalogue to preserve and document it in optimal and up to date formats. I doubt that the vault will offer much more than that.

Th.

I agree that the ZFT have wasted many opportunities to strenghten Zappa's reputation as an important, lasting musical figure. But I will personally be interested in a work like Dance Me This at any time, and believe that the work itself is strong enough to attract attention on its own merit, regardless of the marketing.

If it doesn't have the 28th version of City of Tiny Lights, I'll snap it up immediately. :)
