If there's a new Vaulternative release coming soon, I sure hope there's one or two by August. Would be nice to be able to get it at the show and not deal with musictoday. I remember at the fall '07 tour, buying "Wazoo" at the table was sweet.

Oh yeah, picking up Wazoo after that amazing concert was a really really great experience. Love that album so much these days.

So what does that mean? A synclavier download? Not interested.

CB. Captain Beefheart. Does this mean Bat Chain Puller as previously promised or a full Bongo Fury show or both. I'm not really interested in clues or teasers at this point. They mean so little. Just let me know when there is new product then I can make up my mind whether I want to buy it or not.

say's Gail Zappa.

I agree. Music fans should stop wondering about ZFT and just ignore them altogether. I love Zappa but I don't give a shit about ZFT. I'm not drawing any conclusions because there are no conclusions. I wont be buying anything they put out, anyway, unless it's a complete show.

I will buy anything the ZFT puts out. That's the life of a completionist. But I have other interests too, so I don't really care how long it takes between releases. There will be a new one eventually, and it will probably be awesome. Worth waiting for.

I am still hoping that one day they release a box set of the 73 OZ tour. That whole tour was ACES.

Of course I will have to take out a second *SPAM* to pay for a set that big.

For a company that struggles to release 2 a year? I don't see it happening, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

Well, I will take either the promised Ponty release, or the promised Beefheart release (I think Gail was saying these were in the works...).

I'll take more synclavier and a full Mount St. Mary's concert, as well as the obvious Roxy DVD. An official DVD of Yellow Shark performances with extras too.

If 11 releases are scheduled by the end of 2012, I bet a lot of them will be digital download-type-things. I bought the Penguin download, but probably wont buy future digital only releases that consist of a single song or nugget of some sort.

Yeah, it's not looking good here for real CD releases right now or anytime soon. Tour's starting anyday now, and no word of a Vaulternative set to buy at the show. It's probably the end of an era. My guess is they'll cram a bunch of various live shows/studio nuggets on us all at once come fall. At the prices they've had, I won't be buying any downloads. I'm out of the game. If I'm gonna do the work and download it, scan/print the artwork, I'm only gonna pay about $15 tops for a double live set. To charge basically the same price for a download as a CD is ludicrous and they won't be in business for long doing it that way.

At least hoping Bat Chain Puller becomes a real CD release.

Sounds like she mistook hers for John Zorn's label, or something like that :)

I have no idea what she will do, but I do think that her 'market' is not young people who exist primarily on downloads. I didn't buy Penguin, not because I was totally against the concept, but because I didn't want it in iTunes format and to take the time to convert...I know it is simple to do, but I never bothered.

I also wanted Mothermania, but not as a download. So what if I am an old fart, I am the public that buys the releases. The fact that vinyl sales are up and that music sales are also slightly up should be an indicator that there is a market.

I am thinking of trying Spotify, and I pay for XM in the car and through the home computer and I have my whole CD collection which is over 105 gigs of music at work on a portable hard drive so I am not a lost cause, but no amount of ZPZ touring is going to make Frank's music competitive with Lady Gaga or whatever. FZ was a niche market when he was alive, so no surprise that he is still an acquired taste.

Oh Gosh, I am rambling again, shoot the old man....

That's right - no fart at play here, tweezers -- Look, there's real artwork involved, which means there's a cover artwork creator somewhere out there, for real, that got paid for it. Support graphic arts wherever you can, they're looking good, feeling good and may even encourage you to take out that old crayon again and do some more doodling --
