Some years ago they had a bunch of promo-stamped DiscReet albums at around $35 each, and I thought that was a bit much. Anyone here fancy Broadway The Hard Way with punch hole at a mere $150?

Boy, I'm glad I bought me the BTHW LP recently, in mint condition, for almost nothing. You get to hear the confinement loaf story, but you loose lots of great tracks. He should have done it a double LP...

Just when I thought that their pricing scale couldn't be more out of touch with reality. Sad.

Do they really expect anyone to be a big enough chump to buy any of these?

Before I leave this petty subject, I would like to say that 'overpriced' is a distinct theme in Frank Zappa's satirical discourse. Just to mention 'the composer's intent'.

"Leave? Now? At these ticket prices? Just hold your horses!" Thing-Fish - $400

The past... I listened to Hot Rats on Classic Records 180g vinyl yesterday... It never sounded better. Vintage... You can get those records for around 10% of what their asking around the net, but there will always be some scumbags who ask outrageous prices in case a chump should come along. I can't say in retrospect what FZ would have made of a pricing policy like that, but he used to attack stupid greed, if I'm not mistaken. So I will go on crying, crying, if you don't mind

This mix without overdubs sounds better and it does not exist on CD.

Very true, and I also think the new LP on Classic Records (from analog master) sounds far better than my old Bizarre/Reprise LP, probably because of Bernie Grundman's careful mastering.

Agreed. But although I own both LPs (the first edition and the 200g Classic Records) and have burnt my own vinyl rips to CDs, an official CD release who be great... If only an evil sound engineer does not fuck up everything with compression.

Err... it has to be either 150g or 200g, not 180g.

Man, you're exact - and right. It does say 200g on the custom inner sleeve. I have to watch and not let those memes override actual observations 8)

You are right, on auction websites, the prices tend to be what buyers are ready to pay.
But I would not pay more than $40 even for a rare album, except in special cases such as inflation.
In 2005, I got a sealed copy of YCDTOSA Sampler at Daves's Record Chicago for $10.99 (I left the price sticker on it), and IMO that was the correct price.
Maybe that in times of economical crisis, some sellers see opportunities when some crazy collectors are considering rare items as safer investments.

That is what a auction is Highest bid :) They can't sell new and bid tho :|
The sampler is now about 20 odd years old with all the songs on other releases since so i can see why it is not worth much.

I could understand such a high bid if the proceeds went to charity. Do you know if this was the case?

A donation must be the same as charity for the words too exist, that's where the loop hole of bidding on new stuff must be at
