I'm fine with the "thinner" ones but Monkies was too much. Might as well just staple a piece of paper around the disc, made the whole thing feel less than substantial.

edit: NEVER MIND....I found the orig thread....

Has the thread with all the sales calculations been removed? That's what I was looking for, thanks to slime for all that.

I've always been curious how publishers move product. How much of it is secretly sold on the cheap? Where do these pro Amazon sub-sellers get their goods?

With no announcement in January and therefore effectively (counting in the usual delays) no releases for Jan & Feb 2012, that'd be one album a month starting in March 2012 and going right through December.

If you believe that, you'll believe anything -- -- -- --

Hope along with the obvious (Dance Me, etc.) we get some more 40th (or 41st, 42nd, 43rd) anniversary releases. Bring on the Uncle Meat and Hot Rats deluxe editions.

Official release #92 looks awesome  :

The Zappa Family Trust (ZFT) and the Official Allan Holdwsorth (OAH)
are extraordinarily pleased to announce the upcoming release of
"Tabular Rasa", a collection of Frank Zappa synclavier works featuring
Allan Holdsworth and Chad Wackerman.
"Tabular Rasa" was only just completed at the Utilitiy Muffin Research
Kitchen (UMRK) in 2011. "In 2009, we excavated these vault tapes that
were labelled "Allan/Chad, " expains Zappa Vaultmeister Joe Travers.
"On first sight, I thought these were recordings of [Allan] Zavod and
Chad [Wackerman], but imagine my surprise -and relief- to hear Jazz
From Hell-era synclavier music as a lauchpad for Allan Holdsworth to
take some amazing solos on his SynthAxe and guitar. I knew Frank
admired Allan a great deal and he'd been over to the house, but we had
no idea he had been recording with Frank."

"Last year, we gave Allan the opportunity to listen to the tapes, and
on a couple of pieces, he re-recorded his parts; otherwise, we think
the rest of the music is from 1986. We've been rehearsing with Allan as
a special guest at some upcoming ZPZ shows. We hope to play "The Girl
in the Platinum Dress"-a fast paced waltz that we listened carefully to
and realized was based on "The Girl in the Magnesium Dress". There is
also a gorgeous variation of "Watermelon in Easter Hay" that Frank
orchestrated for the synclavier with Allan playing the lead. It's
jaw-dropping."

1. Shards of Light (6:43)
2. The Girl in the Platinum Dress (4:37)
3. Tweezer Glint (8:01)
4. Contraption Conniption (7:54)
5. Shadow Box (12:11)
6. Shrimpansy Minky (7:50)
7. Watermelon In Glass Hay (6:32)

Produced by: Gail Zappa, Joe Travers
Liner Notes by: Gail Zappa
2012 Zappa Records, ZFT, OAH

Yeah, I know. You were supposed to go along with it. Stumbled upon that at the zappateers forum. That Bill character is awesome. I remember reading his "new release" posts like 15 yrs ago. Still made me laugh yesterday.

Bat Chain Puller next week, and then? April could bring Australia 1973, when Dweezil is playing down under.

No chance they could meet the #100 mark with a schedule like this. Eight albums between May and December? You must be kidding!!

 I bet that "100 albums-by-the-end-of-the-year" remark derives from calculations way before Gail decided to sue Ryko from her armchair.

Uh, didn't that fiasco begin back in the 90's?

I like consistency, so do you think there should be 2 entries for MOJO? I don't, UNLESS they include other mini-versions (even with unique material) such as YCDTOSA Sampler.

IMHO

count the lot mix No91

LP no55 with(Old master pack 1/2/3) (mothermania) (2 lp Mystery disk)(1 lp ycdtosa vol2)
(+1 lp sampler)
(+3 lp The **** Of The Mothers/The Mothers Of Invention /The Worst Of The Mothers)
(+1 lp Rare Meat)
(total No60)

CD no84 with(2 diffrent (MOFO packs 2cd or 4cd)
(+2 cd Cucamonga Years/Cucamonga)
(+5 cd Strictly Commercial the best of Frank Zappa/Strictly Genteel, a "classical" introduction to Frank Zappa/Cheap Thrills/Son Of Cheep Thrills/The Best Of Frank Zappa)(total No92)

Cass finished on ycdtosa vol 4 there was not a vol 3 on cass i can't be fucked too be bothered too find out.

Gee, no announcement on March 01 -- I see they want to save it up and release the nine albums between July & December* -- BTW, is Dance Me This two-digit, or three-digit?

Do I have to get the Old Masters boxes and Have I Offended Anyone? to complete my collection? Or is that insane completism? When I don't even have all the CDs (Waka Jawaka, Roxy & Elsewhere and Zoot Allures, for instance - have them on LP and cassette - not CD). Anyone else bothered by the inclusion of the Old Masters boxes in the official list? In a big way or just slightly? Not at all? Am I asking too many questions? Or is there a Q that I left out?

8)

Well, the first 2 old masters boxes had the mystery disks with unreleased material that later ended up on mystery disk. At the time they were released, they were essential. Have I offended has different mixes of the songs, some quite a bit different (to my ears) so, yea, it is essential in that way. Kind of like Sleep Dirt - you need both versions, though we know which version sucks. Like - woiiftm and ratj....The originals just seem better. Most Zappaphiles are like baby ducks. They follow the first version of what they hear as the true mother/version.

Sounds promising. Maybe in the big announcement she makes we will learn about her plans and whether the June releases of the early LPs are authorized. Maybe I will also learn if there is Garrick footage in the vaults, I have asked about that....whatever gets sold I will likely buy. :)
