No it's not a Zappa album but it was one of Zappa's albums. :P Does anyone own this? This is THE one Frank heard as a teenager. I've wanted it for some time and had no idea it was available on CD until I browsed at G&S Music. Ordered a $10 used copy today at Amazon. Looking forward to hearing the lo-fi mono sound on this.
The only other album I have of Varese music is this digital recording which is excellent:

my copy is in rough shape; on close scrutinization, the original pressing is very dark red vinyl

I have this cd of Varese's music directed by Pierre Boulez and played by Ensemble InterContemporain.
It sounds very good and I think it's a good edition for FZ fans as well.

I have two: the one conducted by Kent Nagano, which is the superior of the ones I have, and another one which is complete, conducted by Ricardo Chailly and performed by the Concertgebouw orkest.

@Fred_Z: that CD is a "needle drop".
I own the original release and second edition, it's not bad sounding at all!
As others pointed out the Kent Nagano and the Boulez releases are quite good recordings.
I wonder what decade we'll get to here Frank's????

I've actually never even seen the cover of the album! Very cool. I'd like to get some EV in my collection.

It all sounds like monster movie music to me: especially my favorite Varese piece, Poeme Electronique...

I love the Nonesuch label and some of the artwork on their classical selections.
I have a release entitled "Treasures of the Baroque" with great artwork.

I don't suppose you could send that over as a birthday present Slimey?
