Conehead being the worst of them all (the pointing to it AND the song in general)......the whole thing is so contrived.

OMG, how's that for The Wall then?

Something went wrong with quoting there...

I'm not very familiar with the album anymore: it played in the car a lot when I was younger, but I don't remember it much.
I do have the movie DVD, and I watch that rarely since the film is a bit of a drag to me.
I am very familiar with Live In Berlin for Curry reasons. And I own the Brick In The Wall version which would be the absolute bottom pit version I've heard of the classic, if it wasn't for the fact that some of my teachers attempted to cover it. Hearing your teachers sing "Teachers, leave those kids alone" was in this case only fun on paper.

Didn't Frank write this as intended for a skit on Saturday Night Live where he would have sex with Lorraine (Connie Conehead?) Newman. Sex for Coneheads involved placing rings on the cone for sexual gratification/orgasm. That's the way I listen to it, and why I like it. The bit was canned but the song remains.

The mix I had on the CD is terrible. A lot of people said it's the 1995 mix and the later one is OK, but I have the 1998 mix. Later I got a vinyl, but apparently that's the "German pressing" which "sounds terrible" and so I keep on needing new copies of an album I don't like. It's not the most popular stance on this forum, I can tell you, but it's just the way it is: YAWYI gives me a headache.

It's a very busy album, no matter which version you listen to. You can tell Frank really went overboard in his brand new studio. I had a really hard time getting into it at first but grew to really like it. It's not one I go back to very often though. On a bad day, all those multitracked vocals and superfluous sound effects can be downright grating. I agree with others that these songs sound a million times better on Crush All Boxes.

Of the 80s, SATLTSADW is my favourite (it was my first non-comp FZ album), and I love TTR, but indeed: once FZ gets the UMRK he starts overproducing. In YAWYI I get intensely bothered with the Ike Willis/Ray White/FZ vocal combo. Dumb All Over and Goblin Girl are tons better on Have I Offended Someone?, Mudd Club is tons better on Thing-Fish...

I LOVE all the mixes on Have I Offended Someone?
