Half of yours are correct choices, the other half are wrong.

I recently fell in love with Jazz Discharge because I play it very loud at work and 'sing' my dear heart out to it.

Wow, I finally got into this song! It's amazing musically, and I don't give a shit about the lyrics, unless they're great for karaoke.

I think it is an awesome song. Lots of fun to sing along to, especially the "STILL TRYIN' TO GET IN THERE IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, AH HA HA!!"

9. Peaches En Regalia
8. The Blue Light
7. Lonesome Cowboy Burt (Swaggart Version)
6. Any Kind of Pain
5. Stuff Up The Cracks
4. What Will This Evening Bring Me This Morning?
3. Black Napkins
2. Big Swifty
1. Transylvania Boogie (Trance-Fusion)

The Man From Utopia is growing on me too. I find SEX okey, I only have a problem with Cocaine Desicions. Finally I decided to start to get into the early 80's albums. Ship/Witch is superb, except for Valley Girl, Them Or Us hasn't really grabbed me (it's allright, I loved SF2, Truck Driver Divorce, Marqueson's Chicken and the title track, but there are songs like In France that I can't stand), but the one that really surprised me is FZMTMOP. It's amazing all the way except for I Don't Even Care and maybe Yo Cats. The rest is breath-taking.

A top for today:

1. Little House That I Used To Live In
2. King Kong
3. The Uncle Meat Variations
4. Beat The Reaper
5. Project X
6. Brown Shoes Don't Make It
7. Absolutely Free
8. Alien Orifice
9. Ruth Is Sleeping
10. Sharleena (Chunga)

Don't know how, but Uncle Meat keeps being my favourite. Yellow Shark and Phaze III are still growing, though.

What's wrong with Cocaine Decisions? I always like that track. The only track I'm not into on that album is Stick Together.
Them Or Us is pretty awesome all the way through, I'm not a huge fan of the title track to be honest. I'll give it another listen soon. I like The Closer You Are, SF2, Marquise Son Chicken, Stevie's Spanking and Truck Driver Divorce best. But honestly, it's great all the way through.

I'm gonna give Thing Fish another listen today.

Nothing is bad about Cocaine Decisions, I find it just a bit boring, like Stick Together.

TOU sounds like Zappa was trying to keep up with the terrible popular music that the young people were enjoying in the early 1980s. I've actually heard some naive person refer to it as a hard rock album. Stevie's Spanking is one of Zappa's dumbest songs. The whole story is lame. Who the fuck is into spanking? Repressed geeks and people who pretend they are into spanking? Anyone else? Phony rock stars pretending to live the good life? Sadistic children? Frank? It figures Vai is the subject. Sorry, I don't get it. And the music is mostly average nerd rock.

Cocaine Decisions is severely lacking in the musical department and the lyrics are unbelievably obvious. What's left? The vocal performance?

Whatever was supposed to be good about Thing Fish is beyond my comprehension as an offering from Frank Zappa and as a work of art. Those young music school geeks he was playing with managed to temporarily get Zappa lost. He hired robots and it shows.

Putting any of this stuff in a top 10 Zappa songs list is nothing but incitement.

Sounds like you're not a big fan of YCDTOSA5, DIsc 2. Welcome to the club in that case, I did think if FZ' mission was to prove that his post-MOI bands are just as valid as the halcyon days of MOI, then all the cheese he selected for the YCDTOSA volumes was not the way to do it. Even Tommy Mars himself said that the last band he played in performed some amazing music and then the sound on the records would be unrecognisable. I don't even think it's so much that Zappa got lost in the robots, but he wanted robot like perfection from the music production side of it as well and consequently all the 1980s live recordings sounded so sterile and many of the CD remasters sounded like an audiophile's worst nightmare. He himself said that an acceptable 1950s drum sound would be laughable in the 80s. Hence, Wackerman wiping out Black, Mundi and Tripp on certain MOI records.
