...I Used to Play"?

That is, the chamber music interlude of LHIUTLI on BWS. Is there any classical music out there that sounds as awesome as this? Electric guitar part not essential, but the harpsichord, woodwind and maybe vibraphone bits certainly are.

nothing sounds as awesome as zappa's interlude; ... some bits & pieces of few gentle giant tracks come sort of close

[disclaimer]
- different instrumental combinations
- wrong guitar tone
- guitar too prominent

I agree with Slime - nothing sounds like that, it's just pure Zappa.

Not sure how close they come, but off the top of my head you might want to try these:

You may want to check these out as well, although they're probably more along the lines of Yellow Shark.

Big thanks to Sleeping in a Jar for the Hindemith Kammermusik inclusion. Hindemith is a name I've been familiar with for years without ever having heard him. After listening to some samples from Kammermusik (and it didn't take many listens), I've ordered the cd. This is right down my alley.
Nice to see the Fred Frith cd there as well. I am a long time Frith fan.

i'd get into webern. i had a class in my last semester of college where i had to attend a classical concert and do a write up about it. i live in boston and wanted something weirder than the pops so i went to a showing of his work and good god, you can really see where zappa was coming from
