47-minutes isn't that long but I truly was expecting no more than 20 minutes!

As frustrating as the ZFT can be sometimes I don't think they'd ever charge full CD price for 20 minutes.

this didn't quite seem full price to me, i think of full price as $24ish, but I guess the last few purchases have been multi-disc too (having skipped the "soundtracks", I would easily buy an uncut, unfucked with, KCET show, and likewise for the Halloween 77 show from baby snakes, but to play the movie's audio "as-is" just doesn't appeal to me at all. I don't need SFX for claymation I can't see over my music, thanks.... but I digress.)

I had assumed the cd, given the price and the Joe's ____age Series, would only have the 3 or 4 tracks mentioned in the short description

All of the "Joe's" releases have been full-length albums. Joe's Corsage is by far the shortest at 35:32, but that's still longer than some of FZ's main releases.

Not when CD came out,Vinyl yes because it sucks even more than it already does if you fit too much on them 8)

I inquired with musictoday about not getting an email about the discount and they responded and sent me a code. So I at least got a piece of that ridiculous shipping cost pinched.

Still $21 after all said and done. I'll take anything.

I got the discount too, whatever that saved me and the tracking information put it in the hands of my local postal carrier for delivery today. Should have tonight. We are getting continuous snowstormns in NJ so don't know if it will get opened tonight. For those that can listen tonight, post reviews, I will do the same tomorrow hopefully. I have no problem with the length of the CD. This is some reflection of band rehearsals and they have what they have.

I am more likely to be bothered by Musictoday's packaging materials than CD length. LPs were in the area of 40 minutes if full, and often less than that. I thank the ZFT because I did not know that rehearsal tapes of this lineup (which I know very little of in the first place) would have existed.

All good by me 8)

Mine shipped yesterday. I'm curious how the fall 75 songs will sound without Andre Lewis.

Mine is also out for delivery.

Every shipment I have rec'd from Music Today - every case has been cracked.
(and I order all releases)

This time I placed two orders - both single. Ordered one - then got my discount so I ordered another. (IMO there is nothing better than Zappa music)

ok got it-
for those who are interested
1 2 page photo
band as pictured plus "Andre Lewis (special mention) - keyboards, vocals
everyone sings except for Terry

Some cuts sound great - some like a rehearsal like the Domage cd.

T'Mershi Duween- basic tune as we know - viola up front - slower except last verse - great tune.
Reeny Ra - vocals but nonsense "place holder vocals" medley is great - could have developed into a Zoot Allure's lp type tune - nice guitar solo about 1:30 into it while the band sort of plays a shuffle.
Honey - same basic tune we know - this is the one that most sounds like a rehearsal - vocals buried in mix.
Illinois - early run thru of great tune we all know.
Sleep Dirt - another birthing or near birth gem.
Black Napkins - early rendition of monster we all love - pretty much as it always is.
Take Your Clothes Off - Same as the 10th anniversary rendition - stops kind of abruptly.
Denny & Froggy relate - they talk while FZ is playing the guitar part of I'm the Slime in the background.
"Choose Your Foot" - actually it is a tune we know - breaks down after a few seconds - Choose Your Foot are the lyrics on this - they were replaced for the one that was released.
Phyniox Take 2 - also great as take 1 is.

different pic of cd itself

IMO - this release is excellent! A must buy - a great edition to the catalog. Would have loved this edition to have toured.

"The group disguised as a band"

Sorry - I thought everyone knew what Phyniox Take 1 and Any Downers were - from Zappa Radio and briefly on YouTube.
Band includes FZ, Roy, Nappy, Terry. Froggy, Denny and Novi Novag with the afore special mention of Andre.

booklet says the work cassettes of the rehearsals were recorded by Denny and the analog 4 tracks were transferred by Joe - unsure if that means all the tunes were recorded by Denny or that there were 2 different sources.

Was up most of the night listening to this - the more I listen - the more I like
MUST have's include (any one of these would merit a must buy this cd)
T'Mershi Duween
Phyniox ( Takes 1 & 2)
Renny Ra
Black Napkins
Any Downers
Sleep Dirt
Enema Bandit

mid level
Take Your Clothes off (just not my favorite versio)

only one that is not ready to listen to more than a few times
Honey... (poorly recorded - not much different than what we already have.

Overall release is EXCELLENT - A+

This will be a tasty addition to my FZ collection come payday... But, Bobby, what does the cover look like - clean B/W or with the colour border on the left?

back of booklet has that yellow/pink/blue camouflage design as you can see to the left of the front pic.
HKind of hidden in the camouflage - written in white is The group desguised as a band".

There is a light blue reptangle with what we know about the group/band.

The back cover of the cd is white - list of tunes and times and the usual ZFT legal stuff.
Spine has the picture of FZ from the last Joe's release.

Inner tray same camouflage design with pics of four of the Joe'series
