I just got off the phone with Music Today and they don't have any information other than there was "a manufacturing issue". Anyone heard anything else?

I really can't get excited about this release anymore.

The honeymoon's over.

Think I'll go listen to "Ege Bamyasi" by CAN.
Now there's something worth talking about...

Last time it was a snow storm causing a delay.

What's the next excuse? Fido ate the master?

So I guess instead of WHEN the guessing game should be WHAT?

I'll go with an anti-piracy player along these lines:
http://www.1bitmusic.com/
(battery NOT included)
Too bad we won't be able to listen while driving (unless you are nuts).

I'll go with some Henry Cow - Trondheim today. 48 mins of improvised brilliance.

That's it :!: :P I can wait no longer for Camouflage cuz of this RBP bullshit, so I just ordered Camo. Threw in Trout Mask Replica too, cuz it's $5.64 to ship a single CD, and $6.00 to ship 2 discs. I have the original TMR CD which I always thought sounded fine, but it's one of my top 10 fave albums, and being a Beefheart completist I figure why not have both versions.
So disgusted with this RBP fiasco :| . Even if it starts shipping Monday, I'll just wait it out, read reviews, and maybe wait until the next vault CD is out to order it with that.

From the boxset. The whole set. I didn't mean to say 48 mins --- 85 mins! Ya. Incredible stuff.

I think you made a good decision.

Is Henry Cow always improv? I'm asking because the albums I heard seemed at least somewhat structured. It was dense. It was good! I need to check this one out. Thanks.

Hello,

Just my point of view : There is a error that I previous did on the zappa.com/barfo-swill with my credit card. My bank account hasn't been debited, too few money recently. Maybe there is people that meet this incident? It's going to be hard for me to pay again on-line because(*) I haven't enough money on my bank account. But if there is the opportunity for me to buy it, I think I will take the CD because at least there is Chester Thompson at drums and that needs to be listened.

(*) Indeed there is a dvd but it's different for playing.

Since many of the members admit to being heavily influenced by the early Mothers, one wouldn't be wrong to realize that they played a mix of highly structured, complex music, often with competing meters and the improved material.

Often the "set" pieces would under go transformations into different arrangements, flowing into and out of each other....

But they WERE known for playing long improvized sets as the Trondheim disks represent, which COULD be mostly "experimental" in nature ...but MIGHT merge into and out of a "set" piece...they were not foreign to the use of electronics modification, use of tapes etc. good stuff...

They haven't quite got that new fangled cd making technology mastered yet. Yet, I ordered a cd from an independent band that has only been around for a couple years and received the cd in less than a week as well as an instant download. Imagine that. The youngsters are doing it better than the seasoned pros.

Weren't the folks who invested 1000 bucks supposed to use the ZFT approved cd manufacturer? Ouch.

BINGO! What I've been saying about the ZFT all along! You can WALK OUT of an Allman Brothers concert with the show you just heard, and it sound great, but invest $1000. in an old master sitting in a vault that just needs a little TLC and printing, and you have to wait for months.....

Nice job Gail! :smoke:

What is perplexing is that the ZFT doesn't make an announcement here or their website, and explain just what is going on, or would that be asking to much?

Am I the only one thinking that Roxy by Proxy isn't really a suitable title anymore? Maybe there's a hold up because the ZFT can't decide what to call it? I'm sure things will be back on track once they've decided. This is the only plausible reason.

Bravo Sierra, I'm with you all the way. I think that people that have trusted Bafko Swill with their hard-earned cash at least deserve the respect of SOME KIND of explaination. And not some sarcastic, cryptic mumbo-jumbo. We're all adults here (sort-of) - let's just be real. WHAT IS THE HOLD-UP? You have our money and we have nothing.
The silence from the Zappa side does nothing but breed anger and resentment - just read some of the comments. So Joe, or Gail, or WHOEVER reads this stuff -- we still love you. Just tell us what's going on!!

No, I posed this very question ( "given that 'nobody voted for Roxy By Proxy' (GZ’s words), will the prequel album - when eventually released - now be called something else?" ) at IBS late last year (http://www.idiotbastard.com/news.htm)

suggestion - send all the Roxy tapes over to Zappateers - they will clean and polish them - they could send them back and the ZFT could release a box set in a month. I am sure they will do it for free.

+1. Total confidence in the wizards at Zappateers. My favorite people on the planet.

Frank would have released, like, five albums in the time it's taken for this little doohickey to not be delivered.
