Cheepnis (percussion) is definitely my favorite, but the whole release is really good.

And he's been like that since 2002. So I doubt that any interaction will change anything. Gail has been amused by him at times.

Lumpy - yes, please do. Run, don't walk, to your nearest record st....err, computer.

I would just like to contribute and confirm for anyone with reservations, still, regarding this release... it is absolutely wonderful! $21.12 is still insane for a single disc, but it is nearly justified here :P

Since my copy still didn't arrive today, I might as well contribute to the breakdown of this thread.

I have a question for jay. I heard that the paperback edition of Andrew Dice Clay's Encyclopedia of Put-Downs and Comebacks was a single piece of paper that could be folded and placed in your pocket. Is this true, or did you spring for the collector's edition in the oversized matchbook? :P

That sounds consistent with the normal burn-in period for new CD's. As the laser reads the pits and bumps these tend to smooth out after a few listens...then the sound gets so much more rounder. It's the same for speaker cables. And Speakers. And Amps. But especially the 1000.00 dollar + speaker cables.

Still waiting for my roxy....here in europeland.

It is not only the piece itsself that rulez, it is also the fact that this piece is positioned directly after the solos of the Village of the sun-Echidna s Arf of you-Don t you ever wash that thing-suite. What a flow...

I like the way the Montana music is inserted into Dupree. Nice little surprise.

Here we are, but a few days after the release and there is already questionable, if not downright illegal, streaming of this project.

The power to believe in a code of good will, the consumers that not only buy it through legal channels but question, and but also, take a stance against illegal streaming. That is my kind of Zappa fan.

I do not support illegal downloading, but the way he talks about it makes me want to get involved just to spite him.

Got mine today. Loading into iTunes now. Taking my son to chess club in a few minutes. Looking forward to listening to RBP in it's entirety whilst waiting for him!

My copy arrived Tuesday and am just now listening to it finally without distractions. What an amazing disc! I'm a few releases behind going back to Finer Moments, Baby Snakes soundtrack, Token Of His Extreme soundtrack and Joe's Camouflage. I did get Road Tapes #2 as a gift though, and that's also an amazing release. I'll eventually get the other ones sooner than later.

Question -
On "Village of the Sun", does it sound like an edit at the 1 minute and 25 second mark going into the "Little Mary, and Teddy..." line, perhaps an edit from 2 different performances? It seems that the high hat cymbal levels get louder at this point?

I also notice what sounds like a similar edit on Don’t You Ever Wash That Thing on the 5 minute and 28 second mark.

...maaaan, the Cheepnis – Percussion track is a Zappa Roxy era drummer fans wet dream. Worth the price of admission alone.

Possible, but I think the drummer who is playing tambourine during the verse starts playing kit at this point.

Okay I'm back now from my hour of listening, but I didn't get past RDNZL due to the amount of times I hit the repeat button to hear what Ruth was talking about in the liner notes. What excellent notes! They serve as almost a study guide to the music. What a great inclusion. Fantastic all around. I love it.

It would be truly awesome if Ruth did a commentary track on the DVD/Blue Ray of the Roxy Performances.

Absolutely wonderful, Ruth. please write a book, your ability to recall and detail much of the development of the pieces that you have worked on with FZ is quite special.

Gail...it might be too late for a commentary track, for RP, but the upcoming celebration/40+ anniversary of Uncle Meat (the album) could be greatly enhanced by more Ruth recollections.
