Hi,

So I am looking for this song of which I forgot the name... The song is to my knowledge never been released on a album. It sounds kind of like Filthy Habibts from Sleep Dirt. But only zappa and some other guy are playing the guitar, just jamming I always felt like, until the other guy screws up and Zappa asks him something like you messed up? And the other guy responds that it was due to cramp in his hand or something. They then stop playing.

Hope you can help?

Could it be the title track of the album? Sleep Dirt?

I'll say Sleep Dirt, but only cuz cal sez so. So, +1 for cal. This may make one think that it is now +2 or even +3 for pbuzby, but I'd rather it be a tie at +1 each, cuz cal leaves it open to interpretation. Thanks for busting this thing wide open.

I'll change my mind on this whole thing now that Arkay says it's Sleep Dirt.

I think it's Sleep Dirt.

I believe it to be Sleep Dirt, if cal believes it to be Sleep Dirt.

It's not Jumbo Go Away. If we name all the ones it's not we'll have it for you in a couple of pages. :)

In the spirit of 12 angry men, I gonna say it isn't sleep dirt.
Just watch, I'll PROVE its something else.

Lets look at the evidence...
"The song is to my knowledge never been released on a album" - sleep dirt has (i think).
"It sounds kind of like Filthy Habibts from Sleep Dirt" - sleep dirt doesn't sound that much like filthy habits IMO.
"Zappa asks him ....you messed up" - not as far as I'm aware.
"The other guy responds that it was due to cramp in his hand" - fingers stuck I believe, quite different.
"They then stop playing" - OK, they do that....
Overwhelming evidence that he is looking for an unreleased track, that sounds like filthy habits.

At the risk of being vacillatory, I'm going to have to agree with deuce. No one uses the word PROVE in all caps unless there has been a good deal of study.

For better or for worse I believe cal.

But then again,
A case can be made for Dinah-Moe Humm played backwards right after "he poked and stroked 'till his wrist got numb" lyric. If ya play it backwards Frank can be clearly heard saying "Are you tired? Any downers?" Then FF it to 78mph and you hear "Nooo it's just a cramp. My pokin' fun thumb is fine". RK sent me a copy of this and it rips the flesh to the truth of that weasel. It's all Xeno something. Ask RK and cal they started it.

Stand by your cal.

Chicka-chicka-chicka people think I'm crazy askin' "What's da matter widcha' boy?"

Gimme that bass line, a boom a boom a boom ahhhh.....

9:30-10:00pm time to go out and shake shake shake like coevads avatar!

Miss You, Miss Me?

If it weren't so obviously from 200 Motels, it would be Sleep Dirt. Jeez, you people.

very convincing in a facetious manner....
But it has to be SLEEP DIRT.

It HAS to because I said so.

"White" refers to a type of fuel for campers. Duh!

I have a question (or rather an opinion) about another song...
The segment from about 4.5 to 6 minutes of revised music etc is a really great piece of 'composition' IMO.
BUT, I've been wondering how anyone could create such a piece. So here's my theory....
That segment undulates from A to B, in a similar way to many FZ solos. So, I think it started as an improvised guitar solo, which was either transcribed or george / bruce just learned similar phrases that fitted, and built it up. If you then listen to RDNZL, the guitar solo has a similar feel, and I can almost imagine those same players learning that solo and putting their parts to it. I have a feeling the same technique is used on parts of fembot, and a couple of other tracks I cant remember right now (maybe on them or us?), with Ed Mann playing identical complex notes to FZs solo.
ALSO - on revised music etc - it sounds like more players than on the credits - trumpet for example. And is there a banjo in it for a few seconds too?
Well, thats my thoughts for the day...

Sleep Dirt (The Revised Music For Guitar And Low Budget Orchestra Variations)

Seriously, you're right deuce, it seems to be based on a guitar solo, like Holiday In Berlin(Full-Blown), I think. BTW, am I right about this?

Well, if we are right (maybe cal2H can advise), it should have a wacky latin name.
