Without going on forever, let me give you a few.....

John Zorn / Naked City - Torture Garden
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
King Crimson - Larks Tongues In Aspic
Yes - Close To The Edge
Ground Zero - Revolutionary Pekinese Opera
Kiss - Rock And Roll Over
Eric Dolphy - Out To Lunch
Living Colour - Vivid
.......the list can and will go on and on! Am sorting out a cd tracker listing, so if you all desire you can peruse my cd collection at your leisure, not that youd really want to! As for your greatest Hip Hop albums of all time, sub thread, Pauls Boutique by the Beastie Boys I enjoy, but it dated really quickly IMO. My vote would go to It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back by Publice Enemy, with worthy runners up being A Wolf In Sheeps Clothing by Black Sheep, Bizarre Ride II The Pharycyde by The Pharcyde, Straight Outta Compton by NWA.......

One of my favourite albums man, Otomo Yoshihide is a genius! Going to see him live on the 29th June, in some kinda show based around feedback! Gonna rock, this will be thrid time seeing him, although I never got to see Ground Zero. If you like RPO, I can recommend Last Concert, if you can find a copy.

I don't think anyone knows this album, but what the fuck...

Image

This is an album by Joelle Leandre and William Parker, both bassists, who I didn't know until I heard this, called 'Contrabasses' (very appropriate). It's a solo bass album comprised of 4 duets and 2 solos by each of the bassists. It's pretty interesting, I think you should check it out. I have heard it on an internet radio but still don't know where I can buy it.

Contrabasses<--- click here for information

"Electronic" and "abrasive" would get me interested though.

Can I recommend NURSE WITH WOUND at this point please?
each to their own i suppose, it's not really techno in the everyday sense of the word...more a generic techno used to denote electrnic music...not the boom boom boom techno, a better definition would be ethereal electronica perhaps....brilliant album, you WILL like it ;D
I can see I'm going to give it a listen.

I've got a few CD's that you could call techno littered around my place: ISAN for instance. A couple of good tracks on that I thought. SCHLAMPHEITZEGER (I haven't checked the spelling). A lot of electronica stretching back via Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk (of course), Faust --- and then beyond that to Silver Apples from '68-'69 and the BBC Radiophonic workshop and White Noise - but that's another forum. I'm gonna have to work out how you get pictures into this thing.
i also have some silver apples from that period....courtesy of imisshimbad, i enjoyed them more than i thought, i love TD and kraftwerk, mostly their stuff from ther 70s however
