My 10:

Waka-Jawaka - It's nice to listen to it.

Man From Utopia - Love the production. it sounds very weird and exciting to me because it's the only studio album from the 80's I can really like as a whole and appreciate the new stuff Zappa brings into this decade.

Zappa in New York - This is the one I like the most from the ones that should have been Lather at the time. Lather isn't better because it ain't got the full Black Page drum solo and Sleep Dirt. This has at least one of them.

200 Motels - The concept of this movie blew my mind, because of the whole self-awareness it has. And the way it confronts the epic with the absurd. I represents the side of Zappa's humour that I really like, more than satyre for example. I haven't watched the movie but I feel like I have.

Burnt Weeny Sandwich - It's an actual sandwich :D

Baby Snakes - It isn't a great album but it is a fuckin' great show(saw the movie) and my favourite Zappa band.

Lumpy Gravy - Again, I got really excited with the idea behind this record before I got into the music completely. But now it just feels very special when I listen to it.

YCDTOSA#1 - Stage Crazeness all around, and the definitive proof of Zappa's live awesomeness throughout his career.

YCDTOSA#2 The Helsinki Concert - Like it better than Roxy although it's a different atmosphere.

We're Only In It For the Money - Most powerful album Zappa ever made IMO. It doesn't just revel in its own satyre, it's really human and I think it has the potential to make all those plastic people he targets cry themselves to sleep  This album is part of why I'm lifting my ass outta the sofa and trying to make something creative.

If I ever come to make something really great in my life, I'll know this had a part in it.

Funny that all albums released between 1966-1996 are in somebody's favourites list except LSO, Perfect Stranger, DHBIM and Guitar. May happen that nobody has included Lost Episodes but someone else can check that.

my criterion was albums that I'll listen to from go to whoa

like...Grand Wazoo or Overnite Sensation

others might have some awesome tracks but a few I don't like
eg Yellow Shark, Civilization Phase III etc
I'm even dubious about putting Lather on the list
but it's got too many great tracks!
(maybe swap that for Shut Up)

and I'm not gonna listen to Cops & Buns or Flo & Eddie on the bus for fun repeatedly

It's not that I'm (totally) stuck in the seventies
Just that, for me, those albums are more..umm...complete

I really like LSO. Strange noone has it as a favourite. On the other hand... I'm not sure it would be on my list either. Maybe it's no 11 for everyone! :)

Sheik Yerbouti
Nothing has really grabbed me, but there are so many tracks I'm sure to like something.

why? it's about the same length as your average crappy hollywood film, or 3 episodes of a 'soap opera'.

listen to each album on its own if it's too much.
instant composition, genius.

Even 3 hours of a movie is too much. That, and like I said, I wasn't too impressed with what I heard.
I have way too many albums to catch up on, and not a lot of time.
