The concert of Glenn Ferris' quintet (called Pentessence) was simply GREAT !!! :D :D :D
Great music, great arrangemements, awful musicians.
No wonder he was one of sidemen of Grand Wazoo.
I suggest you try to listen to one of his last records. It's really very very good.

Hum, it is gona be a busy weekend: I have to correct losts of exams and works, tonite. Tomorrow morning I have to go print a banner with my work for a congress presentation next week, then I have to work on some dna at the lab (fingers crossed here!). Afternoon: more corrections and adding up the students grades to see how many will pass or fail... Hope to catch a movie by saturday evening with my ol' lady.

Monday, take my ol' lady to a bus depot early in the morning, and then picking up a Canadian at the airoport by the afternoon, who also is coming for the congress... Than I will have to take him to a zillion places on monday. On tuesday we live for the congress (when it won't be weekend no more).

OK, that was delayed for a week but I did it yesterday, cycled over 22 km in the neat time of 1,5 hours. Also I visited my mother. Today I'm home sick. Should've dressed up warmer.

gorgeous weather, went for a long walk. Foliage colors here are comparable to where bat and baddy are up in the northeast -- mostly cuz most of the original white settlers here were from new england, so they brought their seeds 100-140 years ago. . .
finished Henry VI pt 2: about how the downfall of the Duke of Gloucester (henry's security-in-arms), the John Cade rebellion and the militancy of the Duke of York all went in to weakening Henry's hold on the crown. Basically poor Henry was just incompetent, on the other hand he's popularly remembered as being saintly.
Watched a couple film classics, Fritz Lang's Testament of Dr Mabuse and Dziga Vertov's Man With a Camera. Just had an hour long conversation about that and didn't record it. Gotta get in the habit.
Gotta dump the stuff from my camera into my computer. That'll take awhile.

thought about tuning in to the zappateers listening session today-- not a bad idea if yer sick and can't get outta the house, but that may take awhile on my end -- I didn't dl the show this week.

I know, I'll put a dent in dumping my jazz collection onto my hard drive and read more Macchiavelli.
God! it's gorgeous out! I'll take another walk first.
enjoy it. It won't stay put!

Thanks Green Genes and Aspy! Had some aspirin, feeling better now. Had to go out cycling again today because I lost something on the route yesterday and because it was dark when we cycled the Route it was tough to find the spot back.
We found the spot, but not the lost item unfortunately.

Thanks Aspy and Mr Green Genes. Mr GG - I was a little worried until I visited Babelfish - I thought you were wishing me bad things - parabens are thought to give you cancer! Glad to see an accent makes a BIG difference!

I had as lovely a day as is possible to have on your birthday when you've had as many of them as I have! :D

Hey floss, Parabéns is a nice congratulations word, because if you say it on delay, it still makes sense. It took me a while to realize you can't really say "happy birthday" after the date has passed by; if you are late. So congrats! Cheers

Well tomorrow it is a holiday here, so that pretty much opens the weekend. I will spend sometime in the lab and tomorrow I have private lessons to give. A swimming pool might be nice sometime, as the heat is coming back...

Finish building the roof on my shed. I am not a carpenter to say the least...if I measure it three times and cut it, it's still going to magically be a quarter inch too short. I'd never cut roof joists before with the 4 angle cuts and no straight ones on each joist...you should see the one's I made, it looks like a kindergardener made them...fuck it though, it will all get covered with plywood and shingles, (which I'll also cut, lol!).

Work to do saturday then a ride and Sunday will be goof off day. Rose andI like NASCAR, so we'll flop around and watch the race, and probably cooksomething good :)

A few things come to mind...
Reading my new Haruki Murakami book "A Wild Sheep Chase"
Play outdoors with my dog Clancy
    Take photographs
Learn to get the most out of my new MP3 player
Study for an up coming test
Nervously wonder if I did well on a test I recently took
Figure out just why I make so many damn lists
    Lounging about

Yesterday:
Got up at 4:30 AM, did a newspaper round in pouring rain, accidentally launched my saddle which came off my bicycle when I tried to lift the two-wheeler, had to cycle twice because there was too much newspaper, returned home at 7:30, completely soaked.

Came home, showered, sat on the couch wrapped in a blanket, had breakfast, went out with Dad at 9:30.

Drove to Belgium and made a little tour: first past Leuven to Mechelen to buy a radio, then from Mechelen to Brussels to Brugge to Lichtenvoorde (near Rosselaere) to buy another radio, then from Lichtenvoorde to Gent to the museum, then via Brussels to Mechelen to Leuven to Genk to Eindhoven and came home at 20:20. Had supper and went to bed.

In Gent I visited the Stanley Kubrick exhibition, which was fan-tas-tic. Unfortunately we came in rather late and we had to rush through Space Odyssey, Shining, Barry Lyndon and AI and whatever came after that.

It's a beautiful fall day. I'm going to church cause I can't get out of it. Go out to dinner and entertain my relatives from Calli. Play with my cat, glad he made it thru his illness. Call my sweetie, who is recovering in hospital. Thats a full day.
