OLYMPIC POODLE CLIPPING

Poodle clipping was a demonstration sport that took place at the 1900 Olympics. The event saw 'athletes' clip as many poodles as they could in a two hour period. The gold medal went to Avril Lafoule, who clipped 17 poodles. Other demonstration sports that year included fire-fighting, kite-flying, life-saving and cannon-shooting. The reason for so many strange events was that the World's Fair was being staged in Paris at the same time.

You know that Barry Manilow song "I Write The Songs?"

He didn't write it...

That's fucking funny! My mom is a Manilow fan. I'll have to rub that in her face.

I texted her, and told her to look it up. Then I told her, "I guess that makes him one of the greatest charlatans of all time".

The Coca Cola logo is written in Spencerian script and is therefore not copyrighted. It is trademarked though.

The real projective plane is a two-dimensional manifold that cannot be realized in three dimensions without self-intersection, shown here as Boy's surface.

Yesterday I realized the word "cutscene" could mean something incredibly rude in Dutch. In fact, there's a Jewish last name Cutzien - the unfortunate Dutchmen among them have all changed it.

The "Razzie Award for Worst Actress" is an award presented at the annual Golden Raspberry Awards to the worst actress of the previous year. It's been awarded every year, starting in 1981. Only two winners of the award have actually shown up and accepted their awards in person, Halle Berry for Catwoman and Sandra Bullock for All About Steve.

People in a human stampede usually die of asphyxiation, not trampling.

Crushing people by sitting an elephant on them was an execution method in South and South-East Asia for over 4000 years, even the Romans used it on occasion.

I guess that would be better than burning to death. I've always thought that would have to be one of the worst ways to die. I have a friend whose son was trapped in a burning vehicle. I cringe just to think about it.

Suffocating at any rate is bad since it causes you to panic... besides that, it would depend on how fast it goes I suppose. The Hiroshima victims who charred on the spot wouldn't have had time to think of what hit them.

Not really new. Don't take a shower when you are still sweating. It's getting worse ....
