This is the election where the republicans win. The next one in 4 or 8 years will be the Democrats. Spindle, wash, rinse, repeat.

Trump says he is serious about 2016 bid, is hiring staff and delaying TV gig

Image

This time, Donald J. Trump says, he really means it.

The billionaire real-estate mogul, who has long amounted to a one-man sideshow in GOP presidential politics, said in an interview Wednesday that he is “more serious” than ever about pursuing a run for the White House in 2016.

In recent days, Trump said, he has hired staffers in key primary states, retained an election attorney and delayed signing on for another season as host of NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” because of his political projects.

Democrats reacted to Trump’s plans with eye-rolling. “You mean there’s a chance that he could blow up the entire Republican field and get ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ off my television? Sign me up!” wrote Mo Elleithee, a spokesman for the Democratic National Committee, in an e-mail.

Ted Cruz Obamacare Anniversary Surprise

Image

CLEVELAND, Ohio-- Ted Cruz said he chose this week to announce his candidacy because it was the anniversary of Obamacare being signed into law. Monday at Liberty University, he called for the law to be repealed. Tuesday in Iowa, Cruz handed Obama an unexpected and unintended ACA anniversary gift when he said his family "will presumably go on the exchange and sign up for health care."

Cruz had been covered under his wife Heidi's employer's plan at Goldman Sachs, from which she is taking an unpaid leave to work on her husband's presidential campaign. Cruz told the Des Moines Register the family is "in the process of transitioning over to" the Affordable Care Act exchange.

Not so fast Mr cartoon, Here are two hypothetical examples of families buying health insurance, under the current rules, through the Obamacare exchanges: 1) a family of four – two adults both age 58, and two children under age 21 – living in D.C. who run their own small business; and 2) a female member of Congress, age 58, with a spouse and two children living in D.C.

Using the Kasier Family Foundation Subsidy Calculator, the D.C. family of four making $94,250 a year, or just $50 above the 400% of poverty level, would pay $15,481 a year for their family health plan if they chose the silver plan (the middle-tier plan used by Kaiser). They would receive $0 in subsidy.

The congresswoman and her family living next door makes $174,000. Her income is 739% of poverty level and her insurance plan, at the Silver level, would also cost $15,481. But the congresswoman would qualify for a subsidy of $10,048.76. Cruz has said he will not take the subsidy, this will be another lousy law pushed through and has to change in part or whole .

Sounds like at least some parts of your examples aren't hypothetical, so it's not really clear why you created hypothetical examples. Maybe just a long-post version of "Obamacare Baaaaaad"?

I know! Can you believe how disingenuous that remark was? The undisclosed reason he's not taking a subsidy is because his income is so great, he doesn't qualify. No one on this forum is so gullible that they'd fall for what he said…ooops - never mind.

Bravo,
for fucks sake, man, it doesn't matter if you vote republican or democrat. It's not gonna change the bigger agenda. The agenda they don't want you to see but is plain as day if you know how to look. You continuously act like the problems are all because of democrats. And the dems blame republicans. And you all fall for it still. The problems we face have nothing to do with the puppet in the whitehouse. Many problems are caused by the American people believing the goddamn media. Turn it off for 6 months and when you come back to it you'll see it for what it really is: Crowd Control/Behavior Modification Central. Don't let these asshole fill up your brain with garbage.

As you know from previous posts Bravo, I use the ACA. My wife and I are basically self employed. We had Blue Cross prior to the ACA, and it was a very good, expensive plan. It cost around $1800/month. When we switched over to Blue Cross through the ACA, we have virtually the exact same coverage but it costs $600 less per month. I ain't telling you our income.

It's worked out beautifully for my family. And we do have some pre-existing conditions that we could not get coverage for until the ACA came along. Stories like ours don't get much pub, though.

FYI, I'm not a cheerleader for the ACA, in that I prefer the U.S. go to a single payer sytem.... But for what it is, we'll take it.

This is of course because he, like many here, can't construct a convincing argument to the contrary...
