Good idea. We've still got a bag of sunflower seeds. They were my daugter's gerbils favorite dish. Since the gerbils are in heaven, we should eat the sunflower seeds.

I never would have guessed, that some brussel sprouts will scare an Englishman, who probably grown up with baked beans for breakfast. It seems you turn into a GERMAN, Caputh.

We just finished some delicious Rogan Josh (lamb with a rich tangy spicy sauce) over a baked potato. Made by moi of course. I think I am going to do salad penance for a couple of days after that!

I make a nice Chicken Jalfrezi which I serve with a jacket potato - a perfect accompaniment.
I go one step further though now and scoop out the flesh of the potato, mash it with butter, salt and pepper and put it back in the skins. That is the standard way that we have jacket potatoes now in our house. So there.....

Although I despise class divisions, I must admit to being brought up a in a very middle class family. Baked beans are generally on the menu for breakfast in working class homes in England, as well as for what working class people call "tea" and middle class people call "supper". Middle class families in the 60s and 70s were generally already on muesli and toast and had dispensed with the traditional English breakfast - a pity really.
In actual fact, my wife and mother-in-law were mock bemoaning the lack of Knödel (dumplings, which I don't like) and red cabbage; that is until they tasted my roast potatoes.
BTW are you sure Germans don't fart?

After driving back from the Concordia Club, with Erwin and his father and uncles, on a cold winter's night, with the car windows rolled up, I can assure you they DO! I've never seen that bunch smile so much in my life!

Salami from http://www.creminelli.com/ just arrived yesterday. Yummy. I'll be using this in some salads or just with bread & cheese.

This noon we had some Merguz lamb sausages (Greek) along with some polenta. Doug, since he has come down with the flu, also had some chicken noodle soup in a cup
