The beginning of the book Some of Your Blood (1961) by Theodore Sturgeon is similar to Tiny Sick Tears. just sayin'...

How similar, Milton?

Someone's not so random thought:

There was only one true Christian... ...and they've crucified Him...

Both use similar thematic narration. On page one of Some of Your Blood the author takes the reader on a bit of a journey. (to paraphrase) Walk up the steps to the office, open the door, walk past the desk and find the filing cabenent. Locate the key which is usually kept in the top drawer of the desk, under the flask of whiskey. Search the files and locate the one labled Top Secret....

It reminded me of Tiny Sick Tears. Also I think that Theodore Sturgeon is named checked on Freak Out. I can imagine FZ in his early 20s reading it, its a rather small book of the horror genre written largely in fictional reports about a man who may or may not be a vampire. I'm suggesting that perhaps he liked the idea of that type of narration and decided to use it in this tune.

"Go to the ice box, get out the box of milk, open the box into a triangualer beak to pour the white fluid."

Of course there is also a reference to The End by the Doors thrown in for good measure.

Mr Frank Zappa would find plenty of anthropological inspiration in this here internet forum...

Another observation: I wonder if FZ ever saw the film Chinatown.

During an interview which was used for the R&R Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Frank says "Give a guy a big nose and some funny hair and he's capable of anything!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_McaUor0G0

In Chinatown the character of Noah Detrich (John Huston) gives a similar " Give a guy.....anything" line at around the 2:36 mark.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYMWkRrC7UY

Purely coincidental? Possibly but it is fun to recoginize similarities.

That absolutely made my day. Thanks for that. As for my random thought...

Had this debate at work a while back. Does one single sexual act with a member of the same sex make someone gay? Does one single sexual act with an animal make someone a beastialiac? I was very surprised to find while most people said "No" to the first, they were much more likely to say "Yes" to the second. Is this because the second option is, more often than not, a non-consensual act? Or simply because the first is far more socially acceptable? Enquiring minds want to know.

Am I paranoid?

I just listened to a telephone interview with Frank Zappa, recorded June 22, 1992 at KTKK Radio in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The first caller was from New York City.
His name was Gary.
He said "I hope you have harmony with all friends and family, and the billions and billions of seconds you spend doing hard work."

His name was Gary.

Am I paranoid?

No.Can you reconize his voice? He's getting long winded on DZW but he's protected.Something about
FZ telling DZ to have pity on the daff,or something close to that.Pope Jim knows.Gary's showed
up on call-ins before, like The Roundhouse gig. Then there's the Letterman gig and the call-in Rockline show recently, where he called in.No your not paranoid,he has a record of calling into shows.
What did Gary ask? Did he mention a Hootnanny?

That restaurant in Leo Sayer's "Long Tall Glasses" must have gone out of business within a few days.

"Say, do you take checks and/or credit cards?"
"No, all you have to do is dance. That's all."
"Hmm.....what's your profit margin?"
"We don't divulge that sir. All I can say is that we didn't really think this through."
