lol, the road blocks were dynamic, constantly changing as the flooding changed. Usually a nusance to get around the flooding but at one point I had to outsmart the cops to get home cuz they had US Route 1 closed on both sides of my house. To go less than a mile I had to go waaaaay around about 15 miles, then through some back roads and into a housing development and then the back way into a school parking lot and out the front entrance (which was BETWEEN the road blocks), and across the street into my driveway....all to get a half a mile down the street.

A big town near me (Westerly, RI, I'd guess a couple hundred thousand), lost power yesterday, and I think they're expecting it back this afternoon. The main area hospital is on generators. Rose manages a cardiologists office, the marshal's came and closed the area down. Rose made it home but one of her workers didn't, she's staying at a friends.

I went to get a root canal yesterday morning and when I walked into my endodontist's office, here comes Dr. Sunshine (yeah, aptly named for the day), into the waiting area, barefoot with his pants rolled up to his knees, all his op bays all flooded...got out of a root canal, (lol, well, temporarily, hahaha).

We kept power and stayed above water here, so all in all everything's OK at baddy's house

Today it looks much better out there, I'm heading for Yonkers 8)

Same forecast here..FINALLY, and it's friggin awesome! After the floods receeded our sky cleared and we saw out first sunny day in the 60's yesterday. I happened to be home from the road, so I cut work and took a 4 hour afternoon bike ride...it was the balls with just shorts and sneakers...I didn't even wear a helmet...

...HELLO SUMMER 2010!

Yeah!

it's between 4 and 22°+ in Vienna/Austria - as usual - April - that means springing temperatures

It's 7 Celcius (45 Fahrenheit), very windy and raining. A typical spring day in 'couver...

Multicolor buds on the trees, sorta like the colors of Fall in reverse, (buds aren't as big as the leaves, but color-wise it's cool).

Good riding coming up, lose all the layers of clothes, get's dark ar a reasonable hour, c'mon Summer!

Some folks still pumping out from the floods 2 weeks ago...

It still drops below freezing when the sun disappears here on the 51° (that'd be London-esque) All the warm clothes and comfy thoughts are to no avail. Lets one marvel how the Canadians are coping with something like that. Do they boil the weather-frog in molten mercury or wo? There'd be a huge market for mötley space crüeser suits.

"Brrrrilliant morning, cosmic clown from Berenice."

"Brrright stunny day to you, stranger from Sirius."

....beep, copy that... krrrr.

Clear sky is very much overrated, let me tell you that then.

There's a promise of a warm and beautiful spring day late this morning here on the coast of England where my friends Aragorn, Legolas and Gimly have just stranded after somehow crossing the channel. And look who has come to say hallo to us? Merlin and the Amazons from Epic Forest.
"..Merlin!"
"..Gandalf!"
DJee, "Hocus-pocus, why is you standing under that only rain cloud on the Isle? You know nuffin, do Ya?"
/V\, "That's right. How the ship on your shoulder has brought the lot of you save and dry over will be a riddle for generations to ponder upon. I would give me friend a slap on his back if the imp wasn't showing off its teeth. - So, since the welcome procedure has gone off well 'n' wet enough, I hadn't a shower in the last five minutes, let me inquire how it is with Shadowfax, your pygmy zimm-zala-bimm tricycle? I trust the comrades abracadabra seven of hearts, cubes and seas know all knicks & knacks of the bri'ish way of a fair sleight-of-hand?"
DJee, "We are all ready to wager everything and win juniper, the Jack-of-Plots. I wouldn't wonder if your mp-phree gadget later renders finger-snip war-shouts for orks and kestrels."
/V\, "Yeah, I see. Some plans from the ordinary for t'day, something one couldn't have possibly dreamed of, say?"
DJee, "Me has been phinking of carrying the crown jewels from Buckingham Place to Abbadeen to show Scotland Yard that the british people at least don't have to worry, because since it's kind of May that we might jump via the Shetland Islands, Ice- and Greenland over to hooooieeehhh China in one wooshy swoop, what you say now? I see you dumbfounded, i daresay it can be done drifting on the high atmosphericalllll jets. When we have relished in a really hearty brilliant breakfast that is."
/V\, "You spent too much time with'em Hobbits, meFriend. And what is it we gonna play in the porcelain shop, Domino, p'r'aps?"
DJee, "Preciselessly, Gimly nicks a pebble or slaps a slab-stone and complete the Chinese Wall is bound to crumble stunning-stylee. Might be even filmed from out the ISS."
/V\, "`kay cookie."
A, "O-oh, our amazing bright musician has just voiced the very word."
G, "By Thor, I can discern some bustles and clangings."
L, "No panic, it's just that the fair maids are sprinkling the icy cake."
/V\, "So what is we waiting for, the weather or what? Around the world in eighty and eight grand-piano notes."
Djee, "....raindrops keep falling on me hat.."
"Shut up."
"Pack it in."
"The weather forecasters got it almost correct."
"Do you know the diff'rences from Summer and Winter?
"Do tell us."
"In Summer is the rain a little warmer."
"You pay for the next grog."

Beautific.

Have to be cautious not to get a sunburn on the Clearspot on the toppa my head. The birdies are tweeting, the rabbits are scampering about, the neighbor's cows are mooing. Once a day some fuckhead teenager drives by with his base heavy hip hop. BOOM BOOM TISK BOOM BOOM TISK Humbug!

Added bonus: Flies and mosquito population OM BOOM TISK BOOM BOOM TISKreally seem to be down this year.
