Anyone else here nuts about this band? They put out an album almost every other month. If you're into spaced out, guitar heavy, instrumental balls-out rock, you should check them out. Greatest thing ever to come out of Japan.

They have this thing about referencing Zappa, Sabbath, & King Crimson albums which is cool too.

There are quite a few shows on archive.org you can download for free, and you can also play the tracks there without even downloading.

The official site is http://www.acidmothers.com/Cgi-bin/index_main.html

I really knew nothing about them, went to see their show because it sounded interesting and was thoroughly blown away.

I have heard a couple of their albums, including the one with the WOIIFTM parody on the front. Can't say it really impressed me, it's easy to hear how they can churn out all those albums by the truckload.

It's a band I should like a lot more than I actually do, given all their namedropping of classic 60s and 70 prog/psych stuff... If anything, it reminded me mostly of Ash Ra Tempel or Amon Duul II, more than anything KC or FZ.

I hear they're supposed to be great live, though

Someone told me they were 'derivative avant-garde'. I'm going to be obtaining an album of their's soon (St. Captain Freak Out and the Magic Bamboo Request), but would you call that a fair description?

Only if you consider a bunch of stoned hippies noodling away on a four-track in their garage (not necessarily a bad thing, mind you..) 'avant-garde'...

Too much to collect, too hard to find, AND, a genuine fear of liking this band would cause you to want everything they ever made!

They've been popping up everywhere lately. Saw them on a website the other day, and in this months issue of the Wire...

Will check them out.

saw this band at the treefort music festival in boise last week; haven't seen a concert like this in decades, blew me the fuck away ... they played a small club called neurolux, got up to the front and stood there with my mouth open [or grinning] the whole time, mesmerizing

they're on a usa tour these days, do not miss this show if they come to your town

I can't believe there is much of an audience for them but each to their own.

Yes :!: , saw them Saturday night. Had been 9 yrs since they last came to town & they still own.
New rhythm section & second guitarist were great. They've got some new jams, and the standards like La Novia & Pink Lady Lemonade were stellar. Their cover of Sabbath's "The Wizard" w/ Higashi blowin' some harmonica was a riot.

They've seemed to scale back on new studio albums somewhat. Last one I bought before this week was "Son Of A Bitches Brew" a few yrs ago. Highly recommended. An awesome nod to Miles.

Grabbed 3 of their newest live discs the other night.
- Live in Sweden(tour-only CDR), Last Concert Of The First Chapter, & You Can't Do That On The Radio Anymore(WFMU, Jersey City 2002)

I think I checked them out a bit when Fred first posted back in '06, but they fell through the cracks.

I really enjoyed the vid posted by slime. The live performance seems awesome. Any recommendations for starters similar to the live performance?
