Honda Element?! O man, those are so cool!

When I was a kid, I used to put two boxes together and pretend it was a car, too!

No, seriously, I do like 'em square. I think the Ford Flex is neat.

This is my dad's Vicky He's dead now, but the car is still here.

Long story.

Late Forties Chevy.

Note the window blower and sun visor. Probably just another car from L. A.

A British racing-green TR4.

Looks like as metal-bodied early '40s Willys. Great dragsters, lovely body.

Going by the grill and gills, and the wooden wheels, I'd say that's a Packard woody.
Not that Packard made woodys, but it's an after-market station car. Worth a fortune.

Bel-Air hardtop, circa 1954. Currently in resurgence. Note single-pane windshield.

Plymouth Baccaruda 1967. Light, fast, cheap. Winner of many a race.

After-market fiberglas bodied Willys hot-rod some dad made for his kid.

Thanks, Trip!

Buick, circa 1940. Where's Cletus?

Wow, a 1970 Ford two-door hardtop that's NOT a fastback. This is probably and LTD with the vinyl top removed and repainted. A handsome car that isn't seen much nowdays.

Okay, that's a '65 Plymouth Valiant set up for dragstrip or street racing. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a nitrous tank in the trunk.

A lovely '54 Mercury hardtop. There's one of these for sale not far from the old family farm. Rusty, but complete. Some of these actually had glass tops...Sun Valley is what I think they were called....or Sunliner, or some shit. Flathead V8. Gimme.

A nice homage to Ford Model A street rods.

A highly customized '39 Chevy.

A wonderful '37 or '38 Ford business coupe lead sled. You would be forgiven for thinking it's a Lincoln Zeyphr.

...and finally, an extremely redone 1954 Chevy pickup. This might possibly be a George Barris original, worth a bundle.

Thank you Tripmyster, sir.

BBP - Is that a Morris?

The red sedan is probably a '32 Ford V8. Nice group of old Fords behind it, demonstrating the great progress made in auto design between 1945 an 1955.

4-hole '53 Buick. Note the split windshield. '54s had one-piece units. Probably not a factory two-tone.

Okay...'61 Buick convertable, probably an Invicta. A friend of mine had a hardtop like this back when I was in the service. He drove it from Ohio to California, but that was about it. Nice, well-built car. At the end of the movie Animal House, "Senator Blutarsky" is seen driving off with the girl in a car very much like this one.

O my gawd. I don't think I've ever seen a Riviera low-rider. That is gorgeous. Probably a '65...the Feds made them move the headlights to the grill.

A 1954 Pontiac Sedan. My brother had a '53 Chieftain. The owner's manual...I kid you not...featured tiny Indians that explained how things on the car worked.

The white car is a '49 or '50 Buick, I think. Chopped top. The body work is not so good, thus the white paint job.

I'm pretty sure the green car is a '40 Ford. Maybe a '39.

Chopped, modernized, and customized '67 Nova with a dryer vent coming out the front fender. Very sharp except for that.

Yeah, man. Thanks.

Here are (IMO) the coolest Rivi's 63-73. After that, not so cool but still one of my favorite cars. (I believe I have the years correct but some are customs)
Buick tried to hide the headlights in the 63 and 64 but couldnt pull it off. '65 had the clamshell headlights that functioned and look soooo cool.

lowered 63 (see these bagged all the time now....but then again im from San Jose probably the Lowrider capital of the world...er used to be, now theyre all donked)

72 Silver arrow (few hundred of these made)

73 the last great (but not nearly as cool as the 71,72) Rivi (imo) all the smog crap lowered hp significantly.

I like the 66 the best. If I had one I would paint it in pearl white.

Nice line-up of rods, Trip...too many to catalogue! I'm tired!

The first and last ones seem to be Chrysler products. The yellow A-rod is like the one the cool guy drove in American Graffitti. Interesting to note on the flat black and baby blue Model A pick-up...it seems to have a hopped up four-banger. A real vintage rod, maybe? Blown hearse is a crack-up! Who's in that kind of hurry to get to the graveyard?!

Man, those Riv's are sweet! I'm torn between the first generation and the '71s and'72s. I have a model kit of the '66. I think it's an Ertl. What movie is that last photo from? Did the guy make it?!

Thunderbirds went through a similar metamorphasis during the same period. Someone should post some comparison photos.

"Red Rock West" is the name of that movie. Nick Cage is driving that car with Dennis Hopper ridin shotgun. They do make it...great scene and a really good movie.

Cage's character drives into town in the start of the film driving a 68 Coupe de Ville

No idea, Rope Leash. It is a photo I made of a car at Pole Position, an event in 2008 hereabouts. I made hundreds of car- and firetruck photos. Like these:

Image
That is either a Ferrari or a Maserati.

Image
Local pride: DAF.

DAF Firetruck

DAF Mobile Home

Image
DAF's notoriouslycan do the same speed forward as reverse: 60 MPH. They used to have backward driving races with them.
Unfortunately those races caused an increase in car theft.

If you'd like to see my on-line Pole Position photo album with nearly 200 pics, it's located here:
