Roughly speaking Huck, the top left corner would be a fully planned economy run by a dictatorship. The top right corner would be full on capitalism run by a dictatorship. The bottom left corner would be a fully planned economy run by a very broad consensus and the bottom right corner is probably impossible, an extreme right wing libertarian thing? Everyone has to bend over but they get chocolates afterwards?

Good breakdown...but why do you think most individuals end up in the Green zone (even some pretty conservative people I know ended up there all be it close to the center of the graph) but almost all politicians and people into politics end up in the blue, are they just more accepting of authoritative control and lean right because of that?

"political compass"... well, isn't that an oxymoron.

why would you want to answer a bunch of stupid questions, only to be put in a colored square of some sort?

stupid...

OK then if you are going to bend me over I do expect some chocolates or something. I wonder about Palin though because I don't think she even understands her position.

You'd have to explain that to her first though.

I think I kind of answered the why in the post immediately before the one you've quoted here.

Thinking about it, purple would probably correspond to the political and economic views of the National Liberals in Germany in the 19th Century, or Jörg Haider's "Freedom Party" in Austria.

According to this test I'm less radical than last week. Maybe it's the test maybe it's the fact, that I'm getting older.

What we have here is an opportunity to express our political and philosophical tendencies, in a forum that doesn't actually matter.
In the real world we are, by and large, given a choice of two, maybe three parties to vote for, and so we have to choose some kind of best fit, that matches at least some of our feelings, when it comes time to vote and exercise our choice in the real world.

It struck me earlier on this evening whilst watching a political debate here in the UK, that if you were a political wannabe (and I don't mean that in a cynical, sceptical way) you pretty much have to join one of the two or three main political parties, in order for your ideas to get any kind of coverage, and have any chance of exerting any influence. Compromises everywhere.
I can't see it changing, and to be honest, I can't really conceptualise a system that has a better chance of succeeding.

But, I am open to ideas.
And, I am one of the many eternal optimists that seem to populate this big blue marble.

Don't know if I necessarily agree with the results, but interesting none-the-less for the 2012 US presidential candidates.

http://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2012

They place Obama towards the same plot direction on the graph as Romney, Gingrich and Santorum in the authoritarian Right while Ron Paul is plotted on the liberatarian Right. It could be assumed that the closer the graph plot is to the edge, the more extreme. Ron Paul, according to the graph, is the most extremist, while Obama is the closest to the center.

My personal results haven't changed much from the liberatarian center left from over a year ago.

I'm using ONE identity here. Downer Mydnyte.

Are you trying to discredit me? I am far too busy living my life to have multiple identities on a music forum. Don't be an asshole. My posts are unique and no one else here sounds like me. You're calling me an idiot? You're the one suffocating in political propaganda. What would be my agenda? I have no motivation to use various user names. I am not trying to sell a political agenda. I don't spout talking points. I'm an individual.
