Ken Nordine is terrific. He's in his 90s and still working with that one of a kind voice of his. That album 'Colors' is fun and kind of like suggestive synethesia .

Why the forced deep sleep deprivation? That's the most beneficial kind of sleep.Nothing too good can come by abstaining from it and it wouldn't be sensible to go without this kind of sleep for too long. Among other things, your immune system will become greatly compromised if a great debt of sleep is incurred. Also,Look at all the drowsy drivers on the road or sleepy surgeons in the operating room causing problems and raising insurance rates because of their costly mistakes. You'd think that with all the time saving devices we have here in the 21st century we'd allow time for restful sleep as well.

"Nosferatu" Hugh Cornwell and Robert Williams. Robert Williams himself told me it's best listened to in the dark.

Yes. Yes. Yes.
Maybe Best of Word Jazz, Volume 1 would be a more apt fit for this thread.

I am not suggesting this as a ritualistic practice. Just... once in a while.
After a not-so-bad or unusually pleasant day - assume a reclining position
in the dark, close your eyes for the extra interior, and take in these records.

I would imagine the new papa is naturally sleep deprived, or does she sleep through the night pretty good? Malachi slept through the night really well from a very early age.

We've been definitively experiencing altered sleeping cycles, but so far, just one completely sleepless night:

Whoops! I didn't see that part. I need a proof reader. Just saw the names of the albums so the idea sailed over my head. Now I have a better understanding. Here are a couple that come to my mind.

I am going to go ahead and explain what I was thinking when I threw this thing together.

First and foremost, these recordings should not be pretty.
They should not put the baby to bed.

They should cause tension, uncertainty, and intrigue.

Imagine something thick, multilayered, and on the edge of crumbling.
Imagine something itching with stink and curdling beneath jagged prisms.
Imagine an implosion tickling.

These are those sounds.

^Okay. I'm thinking you've probably missed Atlantis by Sun Ra (1969). Turn out the lights and lay down.....

*noted*

Thanks downer, I have been curious about Sun Ra for far too long.
Curious, interested, and just... his catalog is such an elaborate cosmic golden egg.

I think I will crack it open with your recommendation.

How about anything by "The Darkening Scale"?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rctH4yJS074

Half of Renaldo and the Loaf does interesting stuff.

for "Sonic Archaeology" - their best IMO.
