Coming to New Zealand March next year, worth a look or not?

Well, 2/3rds is good. I wouldn't pay a nickel to hear Lukather though. :)

I'd go if it wasn't too much trouble. I've been to two different G3 shows over the years. The first one in '97 (if memory serves)was Satch, Vai, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. The second one in probably '03 was Satch, Vai, and Yngwie Malmsteen. The format is each artist performs a set with their band then all three come back to jam on three classic songs at the end. The jam tends to be something of a wankfest but maybe Lukather will bring a little class and restraint into the mix.

Cheers for that, I'm sorely tempted, I've got tickets to Roger Waters and his bloody Wall in February (saw the dark side of the moon tour a few years ago so I can't miss it) and theres a rumour that ZPZ maybe touring Australia in the new year so 2012 might get off to a good musical start for me, but maybe not so good for my credit card.....

Steve Vai is ALWAYS worth it period. Although I prefer his solo shows to the all guitar solo G3 sets. I only went to one G 3, and I like it a lot, even though I thought it was supremely weak to see Satriani try to follow Vai. And KillUgly is right, the encore is a big sloppy wankfest that I could have done without. And they didn't even play My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama which bummed me out!
