How many times was FZ on SNL? I've seen the "I'm the Slime" show and the one where they play "Dancin' Fool" (I think). I thought there were other episodes, but these seem to be the only ones ever rerun.

Frank was on SNL 2 times. Dec 76 with the Candace Bergen as host, Frank also did some skits and then again in Oct 78 as both the host and musical guest. The re-runs of both shows are not complete. They are missing a couple of skits because the re-runs are 60mins and the original shows were 90mins. I fortunatly have both complete shows on Video including everything! :-P
JP

That was on the Steve Allen show.

-
Johnny Jacobs: Steve, we not only have the prettiest girls in the audience here at the Steve Allen Show, but also you'll have to admit some of the strangest musical instruments. And this gentleman plays perhaps the strangest of them all, he plays the BICYCLE! And his name is Frank Zappa.

(applause)

Steve Allen: Thank you! You actually play a bicycle?

FZ: Eh, yeah!

Steve Allen: Are you in the Musicians' Union?

FZ: Uh . . . no.

Steve Allen: You play any other musical instrument, anything more conventional, perhaps . . .

FZ: Guitar, vibes, bass and drums..

Concerto For Two Bicycles, Pre-Recorded Tape & Instrumental Ensemble
