Hi all
I'm really impressed with the analog remasters and have been buying them up in bulk, some titles on CD and others on iTunes. Just listening to my new CD of Joe's Garage, I noticed a glitch on 'Watermelon in Easter Hay'. 5 minutes and 53 seconds into the track, there's a very odd drum beat which spoils the song. I've since downloaded the same track from iTunes and this version is fine. I was wondering if this is just a glitch on my CD copy, or if this is on all the production CDs of Joe's Garage?

Hi, Same problem here with the glitch, my CD is EU-made ("Germany by EDC") bought at Amazon.co.uk.

Hi there,

good to know that someone else noticed that. There is a nasty glitch/edit at the point when the solo ends and the clean guitar comes back in (5:53). This is not present in the older Ryko CD and the Frank Zappa Plays The Music Of Frank Zappa moustache CD. There the edit is absolutely smooth. I can't check the vinyl version at the moment.

It isn't, as far as we know: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/frank-zappa-entire-catalogue-remastered-and-reissued-part4.302020/page-5

I bought mine from Amazon and had it on preorder there from pretty early on and it sounds fine.

Mine's a European copy and it has the glitch. Sounds like someone knocked their laptop while they were burning the master disc.

I sympathize with all of you who have the glitch.

Too bad it's during a song that is the high point of the whole goddamn thing.
The best track on a 3 record set, I don't think it's a coincidence that it doesn't feature xenochrony.

I have been an avid fan of Zappa's for about 25 years. I started with WOIIFTM when I was young. However, I have largely dismissed most of Zappa's work that was released while he was still living after Sleep Dirt. There are a few exceptions, such as LSO, all of the Guitar releases, all of the Stage releases, and Yellow Shark. But with the very rare exception, almost everything he released in the eighties annoys the hell out of me. However, I was listening to Pandora today and He Used to Cut the Grass came on from Joe's Garage. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I will give it yet another chance. I admit I have really only sat down and listened to the entire thing 2-3 times but the vast majority of the vocal tunes fell into the same category I place most of his work from this period. I look forward to finding some hidden gems.

Yes, fixed conceptions sure can be a hindrance to musical appreciation, huh?

Alright, after another listen I have realized I just have to skip about half of the album. Pretty much every time the scrutinizer shows up again the track must be changed, and there are a few other tracks that just annoy me because they keep repeating the same lyrics or lines of musical segments ad nauseum. I have little tolerance for extreme repetition. As long as I skip about 7-8 tracks and I can enjoy this album quite nicely. Also, I cannot believe how many times I have heard other versions of Watermelon and never given this one a chance. This is possibly my new favorite.

It's pathetic, I know, but I had a good belly laugh at this one.

You must not be a Phillip Glass enthusiast.
