I know some of you are already plugged into Dime. Those who aren't, do yourselves a favour and take a moment (of patience) to register and learn about torrents. If you have a diverse interest in music, you will like this, guarantee. No need to thank me later... http://www.dimeadozen.org

Let's use this space to share interesting links for those potentially interested.

I'll do the stupid thing first, and then you shy people can follow me if you want.

MGG's commemorative post number 5-5-5-5 suggestions for the day:

Some people have had problems with not being able to register. I got in on the 2nd try, but I'm guessing that was just a fluke.

They have a max on the number of members they can cope with. But members are continuously "kicked" out if inactive. And this happens at a rate that makes new entries possible all the time. I manged to get in by going onto the login page repeatedly. At some point you will get lucky. :)

I didn't get in my first day, I tried a few times...but I got in the second day without too much trouble. Total time trying on both days <an hour.

DLing a DT concert now :)

Some of the Quicksilver stuff has been my favorite, 'specially the alternate takes off their first album, wow, there's a whole 'nother album there :)

Alvin Lee's got some good stuff up there too :)

I will later, I'm in a hurry right now for a bike ride before the dumb stupid NASCAR race starts, (that Rose and I love to space out on every weekend) :) (Actually, I've always loved NASCAR, even in the '70's, way before it was popular. I'm sorta "technical" and this is more of a competition of engineering than anything else, who can build the best balanced machine). :)

Also, I don't know how the DT recording is yet, I'll know in a couple days. I'll for sure post it if it's good :) :) :)

OK, here we go...

As far as "in hat" recordings go, this one's a little less than average. I wouldn't recommend downloading it except that the material on disk two is interesting. Other than that, I listened once and will record over it, any of the official concert stuff is way better.

I don't know if the link will work, but here it is :)

Hey Crudblud, do you know about these? They're awesome :)

http://www.ytsejamrecords.com/

The Dark Side of the Moon "Bootleg" is unbelievable, they took a LOT of trouble to reproduce all the unique sounds from the original Pink Floyd version. It has a Disk 2 also that is just as unbelievable, It's called "A Saucer Full of Floyd," and it's songs that span the phases of Floyd. It's an outstanding DT double CD :)

Cheers Baddy, it always annoys me that they hardly ever do Awake material or Instrumedley any more though, shame!

I haven't seen them live yet, but in October I'm off to Manchester Apollo to see them, should be good. They have Symphony X as a supporting band, does anyone know whether they're any good? Also I'm not too big on Floyd, I only like a few of their songs.

Frank Zappa complextremists might like to add this to their collection:

Black Sabbath
Madison Square Garden: New York City, NY
December 6, 1976
Quality: B

Cassette > Pioneer PDR-555RW recorder > CD-R > Ultimate Encoder> wav > Flac Frontend > flac

DISC ONE:

01. Frank Zappa intro
02. Supertzar
03. Symptom of the Universe
04. Snowblind
05. (All Moving Parts) Stand Still
06. War Pigs
07. Gypsy
08. Black Sabbath

DISC TWO:

01. Dirty Women (CUTS IN)
02. drum solo
03. guitar solo
04. Rock 'n' Roll Doctor
05. Electric Funeral
06. Iron Man
07. Children of the Grave
08. Paranoid

Great "Technical Ecstasy" set from NYC where Frank Zappa intros the band and makes an excuse to the crowd for the band's late arrival onstage, He said it was technical difficulties, but the legend is that Ozzy and Tony were having a brawl backstage...who knows? It's good fodder, anyway.
