Folks, as you can see for yourself, the way this clock over here is behaving, TIME IS OF AFFLICTION! Now this might be cause for alarm among a portion of you, as, from a certain experience, I TEND TO PROCLAIM: 'THE EONS ARE CLOSING'!

A comet near miss, that's badly needed, if we're ever to thwart an object that could impact our course therefor changing earths proportions rapidly enough to kill off mankind & all living forms. Earth would be lucky to leave enough bacteria to start over with. We're a disease of the universe and no right to be here. (or a fluke) That's neither good nor bad...nyet.

Lots of teams in the midlands - too many to guess at which one it could be.
As far as I know, Glastonbury (which is sort of 'west') is not known for its football, nor is Knebworth, Donnington etc.

Pity 'cos there's nothing like a good debate. I even won one once. (boy that line must sound fun when read aloud.)

Actually, as far as I remember, Aspy is a rather attractive and intelligent female and mother.
Which football team you support in England doesn't necessarily say anything about where you live. I've always supported Liverpool and have only once driven past that fair city. I used to watch away games, when they played somewhere near us.
Deuce is right. Most of the festivals in England are in the west of England. I used to live near Donnington. There is a Woodstock in England too, near Oxford. In fact, my brother lives there. They don't have a festival there tho' as far as I know.

The avatar Aspy had always made me think she's a man. The one with a young soldier smoking a ciggie. I forgot about that! She was west of Birmingham and north of Cardiff. I think she meant a festival near Cardiff if not in it proper. She said she's in the middle of nowhere, where nothing important happened and the skies are not cloudy all day. Whoops, that can't be Engerland! It sounds like Montana!
I talked to Aspey for a couple of daze when chat was back up the last time. Haven't seen or heard from her since.

Ah, the avatar was a character from the British TV series "Dad's Army"; the character was "Private Walker" who was a bit of a spiv (a blackmarket wheeler-dealer). The actor (James Beck) died mid way through one of the many series. I liked Captain Mainwaring (Arthur Lowe) best, but my brother was a real Walker fan.

I used to live in Bristol (Clifton Vale). Saw Bristol City versus Liverpool at Ashton Gate, when, for a very brief period, Bristol City were in the first division (Ray Clemence was in goal and Fairclough was the "super-sub"). The only player Bristol City had was Andy (or was it Mark?) Abbut.
Dear days, all sadly gone now.

Cardiff - may be idiots. They still drew 2-2 with United today. How I hate M United.

Football is not necessarily a field for rational debate, however.

I lived in Bristol from '86 - '90. Loved it. Saw City lots of times, including seeing them at Wembley a few years ago in the play-off final  .

It's extremely annoying that Disco Boy continues spewing forth his worthless assertions of superiority while refusing to engage in serious discussion and maintaining that he hasn't even been thrown a bone of contention to chew on, while Caputh in particular offers so many angles for a real debate --

Ah, but I've already been OWNED by "the Fall of the Roman Empire", by the use of the words "OWNED", the phrase "manipulative shithead" and his witty thrice posting of a picture of the same three footballers.

Here's one: Continually repeating the same statements ad nauseum, calling people 'idiots', 'assholes', 'shitheads', etc., using caps, silly fonts and pictorials are not good ways of convicing people that you've won an argument.

Here's another one: Continually extending the topical boundaries of your side of a debate does equal to winning a debate.

But "Titus Oates" will claim that he is only reacting to the "ad hominems" we lob at him (except in your case it isn't true).

I suppose we could have a meaningful debate about why "Xerxes" is the way he is :P
