I had to rehearse with a band yesterday so I missed the entire semi-finals, but I heard both the Netherlands and Belgium didn't do so well and most of the participating Eastern European countries made the finals. No surprises there...

The Dutch song was plain shit, anyone could see that. I was watching the Flemish commentary:
"Well the Dutch said something very sympathetic about Kate Ryan (Belgian entry), now we're going to have to say something good.."
"Well, I thought it was... ehhm... fresh, certainly different..."

I was surprised to see Lithuania go through, since their entry (or for that matter, all their entries so far) was very, very poor, just like the one last year. But most of the acts have more or less deserved it. Armenia had a very nice song, and Slovenia and Bulgaria had put up quite a good performance. Bosnia was great, too.

I was so happy Greece won last year, because it kept all those complot-theorists quiet. Sure, there's voting for neighboring countries, who's given 12 points to Belgium last year, the year before, and the year before that?
There's no preventing stuff like that from happening. Even judges were known to be preferring countries over others (Netherlands always got points from Austria and vice versa).

LOL, that entry from Lithuania is both hideous and hilarious:

I hope either they or Lordi win this year. Sure, these songs are bad too, but it 'll be a nice change from the lifeless muzak that usually wins.

He's ridiculing every other commentator, man!

I voted for Lordi, ofcourse! I can find myself in their standpoint.
Holland is way too politically correct :P .

Well, I think in this case it's the only way to stand it.

I love that guy. He's been banned by many tv stations and many times came back because he's succesful. He really avoids all rules and says things others won't say to fellow tv personalities and the fun thing is, many times he's right.

Yeah he was interviewed on many programmes during the build up to the Eurovision, and asked whether he thought the song was a bit "below the belt" and on the verge of Paedophilia as he used school kids in the stage performance and the recording. He has denied it strongly.

Good god - I didn't know whether I was watching Spinal Tap or the real deal. It was fun as hell. Completely insane. Especially the part that they fucking won!

Hahahaha! Cheers for the pics, Micro! Yeah, I shamelessly admit now that I watched it and treasured every minute of this year's cultural highpoint. Lithuania was absolutely my fave too, although I thought Germany did a very catchy little country number, and Latvia performed that a cappella song really well too and should've got more pwun... Finland deserved it for originality and it's nice to see Roy Wood gainfully employed again. The UK were as shite as ever, of course.

What a show! Spectacular set & lights, an AMAZING Greek hostess who wasn't at all born & bred in California, the one and only time when Terry Wogan stops being an insufferable prat and actually makes you laugh, and every male & female contestant looking like a refugee from "Eurotrash"! See you in Finland, pop-pickers!
