The Constant Gardener. Based upon a book by John LeCarre.
British actors; Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz in the main roles. Brazilian director: Fernando Meirelles.
Deals with:
Corrupted P.harmaceutical Company Executive Pricks, who, with the aid of Corrupted British Politicians,
treats a large part of the poor population of Kenya (in this case), as guinea pigs for a new drug.
Espionage, murders, politics and conspiracies.
And, of course, a love story.
Takes place mostly in and Nairobi, Kenya.
Beautifully fimed and excellent acting.

Image

good night, and good luck.
Mid-50's. George Clooney plays in, co-wrote and directed this homage to Edward R. Murrow, an icon of American TV-journalism.
Murrow decided to do a story on Joseph McCarthy, a U.S. senator from Wisconsin,
who was spreading allegations that Communists had risen to positions of power and influence in America.
Murrow's story led to a legendary installment of his CBS-show See It Now in which both Murrow and McCarthy
presented their sides of the story and was seen by many as the first step toward McCarthy's downfall.
Filmed in glorious Black and White. Highly recommended.

This was a disappointment. Saw it tonight. Boring. Not even the graphics were that much to brag about. Overrated.

Here are a couple of favorites that go well together. Both are based on events of WW1 and the strength of friendship among soldiers in the Australian army during the Boer War.

Opening lines from "Gallipoli"

Jack: What are your legs?
Archy Hamilton: Springs. Steel springs.
Jack: What are they going to do?
Archy Hamilton: Hurl me down the track.
Jack: How fast can you run?
Archy Hamilton: As fast as a leopard.
Jack: How fast are you going to run?
Archy Hamilton: As fast as a leopard.
Jack: Then lets see you do it.

I moderately disagree. Too much washy light fx for me which came across as kinda cheesy. I know that the texture is supposed to be some worshipful method relating back to the comic books, but I really couldn't care less about comic books, I've never been into em. Mostly entertaining movie though, not bad.

{proof}

Gwyneth Paltrow plays the daughter of a math professor gone bonkers (Anthony Hopkins).
She's afraid that she is suffering from the same mental illness.
A movie about trust, passion, family and ... well, bamboozlement.
Great actors. Directed by John Madden.
A real movie with real acting.

One of the most beautiful, realistic, depressing films of all time.

Im with Lumpy and Byron on that one, it's poo. Too much hype surrounding a film release usually imo means it's gonna be a heap of turd. In this case, correctomundo!

It has a full performance of the show as they do it live on stage, plus a 2 hour documantary, and my favorite "bonus," "the making of" which is footage from the rehearsals, putting the band and the show together(: There's some other neat stuff on there too, old footage, Brian alone at the piano, etc.

Huh? It was based on a comic book! It was panel for panel true to the original stories! (barring of course the intro and outros with whatshisname...) At the very least at least it sort of harkened back to the days of film where everything wasn't Made For The Kidsâ„¢.

Oh yeah and...

Homicide - The Movie. (2000)

A year after the final episode of the TV-series 'Homicide - Life On The Street' was made, the cast and the writers joined up again to make this movie version.
It became a brilliant conclusion to the Best TV Drama Series Ever.

It was a very good movie indeed! If you liked the paper versions you'll love the movie. If you don't like "Adult" type comics then you won't like the movie!

Now me, i dont much care for comics...but, I found that the rendering of this movie was brilliant. The esthetic of the whole thing is perfect in my opinion. You have to give credit where credit is due.

Features some of the more popular sketches, but damn funny all the same. Well worth the £9.99 I paid. 8)
