'Heartbleed' Online Bug: How to Protect Yourself

Image

An online bug called "Heartbleed" is affecting a huge chunk of the Internet, which means that a password change is likely in order for hundreds of millions of people.

More than half a million sites are vulnerable that use the security system called Open SSL, according Netcraft, and have had to install a new security patch. Before this patch, private data on websites such as Yahoo, Google and Tumblr could have been vulnerable to hackers, experts said. This bug was discovered by a team of security engineers at tech company Codenomicon and Neel Mehta of Google Security.

Joost Bijl, a product manager with the cybersecurity firm Fox IT, said that affected websites should be letting consumers know that a fix has been installed. But, so far it does not appear that any major website besides Tumblr have reached out to consumers.

Here's what you should know about "Heartbleed" and some ways to protect yourself: http://abcnews.go.com/Business/heartbleed-online-bug/story?id=23256168

Nine-month-old boy charged with attempted murder in Pakistan granted bail by judge

"Apparently deciding that the nine month old was capable of - and had - taken part in the alleged stone throwing, Sub-Inspector Kashif Ahmed decided to arrest the child.

What followed were farcical scenes in which the toddler was fingerprinted and made to sit on his grandfather’s lap in court, drinking his bottle."

Would that have been a gun instead, no one would be alive.
Even those with Karate black belt.

But I see your point. At least they had a chance to fight back.

Stephen Colbert To Succeed David Letterman

Image

Stephen Colbert will take over as host of The Late Show when David Letterman retires, CBS announced Thursday.

Colbert, the host of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report since 2005, was rumored to be CBS’s top choice to replace its iconic late night host. Letterman said last week on his show that he will retire in 2015, ending more than three decades in late night.

I dont know of Colbert, but I never liked Letterman. Scripted and smug. Never made me laugh. On and up.

Moon Zappa Divorce

Our Kid Will Still Get the Star Treatment

Moon Zappa and "Matchbox Twenty" drummer Paul Doucette just finalized their divorce ... and they agree on one thing ... their daughter will live like a glamorous Hollywood princess.

According to their divorce docs ... 9-year-old Mathilda will get the standard celeb kid trappings -- private schools and music lessons -- but Moon and Paul also signed off on ... "photo or video shoots for Mathilda's career."

Also ... they've agreed to never allow her to be "baby-sat by a hotel baby-sitting service, fun rooms or the equivalent."

The docs show Doucette will pay Zappa $8K a month in spousal support for the next 5 years ... and another $6K a month in child support.

Plus, they'll split the money Paul made from more than 50 songs he's written or co-written -- including "Matchbox Twenty" gems ... "If You're Gone" and "How Far We've Come."

Sappy adult contemporary -- supporting famous kids since 2014.

Moon Unit finalized her divorce and is collecting 5,000 a month alimony and another 6,000 bucks per month for da kid. I don't know how many she has. There's talking Matilda, so one fer sure, fer sure. Either way with that kinda' bread I could hire someone to raise the kids while I live in Mexico, Chile', Costa Rica or maybe one of the islands...

Moon Unit's Divorce,
It's plain to see,
She got a heck of a lot of Alimony.
Way more than you or me,
Would ever receive,
No matter how we grieved,
It's plain to see,
Ah, who gives a fuck anyhow?
Well maybe the cow.
It not a crime you see,
Buyin' off da judge,
With some special fudge.
Holding down the cow,
While da judge doth plow.
It's a regular practice,
In the Unit of Moons kitchen tonight.

Pretty bad, I'll need to get some beer, a doobie, come back and slobber all over da place.

The 100th UCD Picnic Day is tomorrow. Could be an extra 30-50,000 drunk folks invading Davis. Fun to watch and fun to participate. No I haven't had a thing yet or this week. But I'm a gonna yes sir, you betcha', ummagumma have me some fun ogling all those pretty gals! :D 8)

Went to get beer only to find my bike was swiped. I got a ride and was lookin' for it too. Come back and find out it's some homeless fucks taking advantage of Picnic Day. They left a bike with a flat and two more bikes are stashed here. Now I make the cops work. They want this guy. Violent felon. The dispatch made me promise not to engage. OK fine. The area beat cop is aware and so are a couple of neighbors. Seems he's hit more than me. Even locked his stolen bike to a neighbors for effect. Ya learn that shit in da joint from what my ex-convict friends have told me. The charges were all pot related if your wondering. I don't like the way some people abuse life. No fun for them. And a boot to the head! No mercy. :x :(

Sorry to hear that, Kirk... Bike theft is rampant in a cycling country like The Netherlands. An Eindhoven design wiz built a bicycle of which the steering wheel can be removed and used as a lock: so if a thief breaks the lock, he can't cycle anyway.
