This is true: once upon a time,In wonderful Flint,Michigan...Mr. Frank Zappa bought me a beer.In the small lounge of the Holiday Inn.After the concert at I.M.A. Auditorium. I couldn't hitchhike out of the area back to Ann Arbor. So was hanging around... It was 1974,May 10th.I walked up to the munchkin- sized table where he was sitting & said: "Frank Zappa- buy me a beer." And he did.And then didn't bother him anymore.

I'm surprised he didn't write a song about it.

This is great to hear. My hero in my hometown, too cool! I recall years ago waking up early and trudging on down to watch the I.M.A. be imploded to make room for the local college. By the way, was this Holiday Inn the same one Keith Moon parked a Cadillac in the swimming pool?

Had I been in the situation, I'd-a talked FZ's ear off asking him questions about the next album or how the tour was going. A little small talk at least. Looks like a lost opportunity other than to say "You'll never guess who bought me a beer last night. Go on guess."

I have ran into many celebs and it best to be polite say hi and move on, I have read that they a life also and if they wasted a lot of time with every fan , they wouldn't have any, and sometimes people just don't want tobe bothered... :smoke:

Point taken. A fan shouldn't be a pain.
