Is here.

So, I'm a new Zappa fan. I always knew of him, but never heard any of his stuff until I saw the film Rock School. No, not Jack Black, the documentary where a bunch of kids go an play Inca Roads in Germany.

Here's what I've got so far:
Freak Out!
Lumpy Gravy
In it for the Money
Weasels ripped my flesh
Sheik Yerbouti
Joe's Garage I, II,III is on order, but taking like, a million years to arrive
Mothers of prevention
Ahead of their time
Cheap Thrills.

What should I go for next?

i was just gonna skip it, oh another newbie post, but i remembered what i was like starting out (i think i even started a thread like this somewhere).

i love that feeling of knowing there's so many more albums to get! it just gets better. but i've still got some to go myself. 8)

grimp is right though, you'll get them all anyway, just a matter of time..

I feel the same way about Zappa as I feel about golf: I know if I quit today, I'll save loads of money over the rest of my life. BUT I just don't want to! Both things are well worth the money.

Welcome from another noob. A couple albums that I really enjoyed in my early Zappa education (which is still in its infancy) were Chunga's Revenge and Zoot Allures.

Have fun and enjoy the ride!

Zappa's music is addictive as smoking, fortunately it won't kill you, just your wallet. I recommend getting a hold of Waka/Jawaka and Grand Wazoo, as with Hot Rats they're quality over quantity and definitely worth buying.

Welcome to the forum

What should you buy next? Mmmm! Looks like your in it for the long run, looking at the cd's you've already got, so just buy the first one you see, you're never going to be disapointed with any of them (unless you pick up francesco Zappa).

Hi! Welcome aboard. My advice to you is to get a DVD next. Go for "Baby Snakes". If you can't find that one, get "The Dub Room Special".

I think these two songs are there to show the amazing improvisational skills of Zappa and Underwood. To me, Willie The Pimp sounds like a full composition, but it is obviously improvised. It doesn't even have a chord progession really.

Thanks for the help, guys. I've only managed to get one more Zappa labum since my last list (Ship arriving too late, and I like it), but I've just got a shit load of money thrown my way, so tomorrow I'm gonna go down and buy (probably) Apostrophe('), or maybe hot rats. Whatever's cheapest.

OH!
yah get Hot Rats, but get the new Apostrophe/Overnight Sensation DVD
they're sellin 'em both pretty cheap and the DVD will give a glimpse to how Frank made a pair of his most popular records -- which is not to say they're less than the less popular ones. It's a great dvd!

Sleep Dirt is actually ok and of course Zoot Allures has got some very interesting moments. Shit, just buy the lot and top it off with a Barry Manillow album just so you can remind yourself of how different life could have been.
