There seems to be some kind of feud (argument) apparently between gail zappa and the original mothers of invention wich i read somewhere but it doesnt go into any real detail...could someone tell me whats it about?

there was a lawsuit against frank zappa from some of the original mothers while he was still alive. they claimed he didn't pay them enough when he re-released the old albums they played on. or something like that...

I think a lot of bad blood came up when the first touring group of The Grandmothers abused a (nearly) life-size Zappa doll live on-stage. I saw it with my own eyes, kicking Frank across the stage. It pissed me off, and it took me another 20 years to even consider seeing another "tribute" band. Probably why the ZFT still hates all "non-authorized" bands.

yeah, and frank made them stop using that doll.

It was a pretty good show. It was cool to see the alumni at the time. 1981, I think. NYC band The Swollen Monkeys opened. They were a tough act to follow.

I saw them doing that in 81 in Denmark. It was, beasides from that, overall a pathetic show (though Tony Duran played some good guitar). They played quite badly. I hope they are better now.

The one time that I've seen The Grandmothers perform live, they were actually quite good.
