Er, hello from the east side of the big pond.

Been a follower of all things FZ since a friend brought some to school in 1983 and haven't been able to get rid of the addiction since. This seems a nice friendly forum so thought i'd add myself to the mix.

It's wet and miserable as usual, but it's Friday so things are looking up. Gearing up nicely in time for the weekend. Sadly usual weekend music shopping not now available as local independant shop went bankrupt last week. On-line shopping just isn't the same, not being able to peruse the product before purchase.

I totally agree. All my favorite music shops are going away, one by one. I even had a Tower Records right across the street from my office, which is now gone - they moved all their business to online. When you buy online, you just don't get the instant gratification and excitement, and when you download stuff you don't get the satisfaction of holding the album in your hand. Then again, I complained when CDs came out, because I couldn't get the satisfaction of watching the grooves go round and round, but I got used to that. Pretty soon we'll be buying chips to implant in our brain for a kind of brain/mp3 player hybrid. The future is scary.... yes it sure is....

I hear that, I'm seeing loads of shops in town go completely, there was a Fopp that was stocking almost every Zappa release including The Real Frank Zappa Book, aswell as so much other interesting stuff from other artists. That's just gone this past week, and although Fopp is a chain of stores it sort of had an independent feel to it. So whereabouts in this hole of a country do you live?

I'm not sure, though I've been to York many a time, so very possibly I've been in Track. I've never been in the Leadmill or the Rutland Arms, I'm not 18 'til the end of the year though, so I guess that would explain it.
