I don't see the need for Dweezil to overemphasize Jesus Christ. I think his comment is a celebratory entity within itself and not representative of Christian doctrine.

Regardless if Dweezil or how many humans follow their own personal savior in Jesus Christ I think the guy on the cross has enough PR where he's not worried about Dweezil making commentary around the 6 week and growing celebration of his birthday several thousands years after the fact.

Dweezil may very well as I do praise the l.o.r.d (defined term : living on reproduceable data) that is FZs Canon and his life.

Have you ever seen that George Burns movie "Oh God book II"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081268/

Well George Burns plays the role of GOD and while the first film Oh God is better than Oh God Book II in general the slogan created for God in that film "THINK GOD" is what comes to mind.

"THINK ZAPPA"

Well annually in the month of December the Zappa family celebrates Zappadan. Gail had wrote a nice forum note that I have quoted part of for reference.

gz wrote:

....In my own personal way this is my version of acknowledgment of the three holidays that my family is always celebrating that concern FZ - the first is of course, Zappadan which falls between 4 December and 21 December every year - and the other is the festival that falls between 22 December and 30 October with a break (for the third) on the 31st of October through the 2nd of November and then continues on until 4 December.............

Music is the Best!

gz

Regarding Gail's comment and Dweezil's terminology of Image- mas this just may be along the same lines and has nothing to do with Christmas. Additionally the Zappa's use lower case letters in l.o.r.d and Dweezil uses lower case letters in Image - mas.

What I can generally say is from my perception Dweezil & the Zappa family have found a way to honor Frank during the month of December. Not that they do not honor Frank 24x7x365 but during December Zappadon becomes a traditional annual celebration that is separate from Christian Doctrine.

For any individual that may read into Dweezil not representing the Jesus guy may I suggest they just go to their church of choice to celebrate that Christian doctrine. In general I don't think the Christian doctrine was anything more to Frank than the energy emulating from candles in a church he had visited. I have not noticed any indication that the savior Jesus Christ is important to emphasize outside of some conceptual continuity in Joe's XMASage. I could very well not be in tune to something but I think Dweezil's intent was to honor his father in that message not some savior who died a few thousand years ago.

Hey if the world can support and celebrate Ramadan, Christmas, Kwanza & Chanukkah I see no reason why Zappadan or Image - mas should not be a celebration for the Zappa family and a community who may follow their own path of l.o.r.d. (defined term: living on reproduceable data)

Fizzydike as you question, as you put

My answer to you from my perspective is
To some Image - mas is just a way of life.

Music is The Best!

In the Futurama cartoon, they say X-mas (pronounced eks mas), not Christ-mas. Dweez is not the only one with a issue with the Christ part.

I would simply say Holidays, to be less potentially offensive.

One of my family members sent us one of these fairly large 5"x5" car magnets that shows a manger scene and reads Keep Christ in Christmas. It was a fund raiser for their church. Request denied.

Hey be it far from me to tell them how to live their lives. If they feel the need to be on some Evangelical Mission so be it but me I prescribe to The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing philosophy. I don't mind helping out a fellow man in need if I can see him with my own eyes but basically my family is not going to give up their End Game shrinking income and life assets for any organized religious organization.

I think back 40 years ago when I was a kid in this same middle class neighborhood. Most families were single income families that owned homes and the kids went to private schools. Today it takes 4 similar incomes to buy these homes and the homes are 40 years older and the quality of life has diminished. How many cars a family owns and how many cell phones the kids have does not define quality of life. My cell phone is 1,000 minutes annual plan for emergency situations when I am out and about with my two year old daughter. Whose in your 5? Give me a break and get a fucking life. When I take my daughter to the parks and Zoos I frequently see couples out on dates at these places and they are both talking to someone else on their cell phones. How pathetic. hey want to go on a date we can walk together and sit on a bench and talk to someone else on our cell phones. We have so much in common. Whose in your 5?

Our governments have pushed themselves into trend of global economies They have perpetuated the concept of spending, spending, spending be it on the consumer level or the governmental levels that have destroyed quality of life. While we have all these neat little toys to play with be it more cars or more war toys Religious Conservatism has nothing to do with Conservative Government. Frank's concept of Practical Conservatism was best for my political desires but that just never will exist. Get in another war like it's some Bungalow Bar popsiclke. War on a stick. Here comes the Haliburton truck. It's Empty but we are still going to charge "the people".

buy another car, have a war. War on a stick.

Personally that guy on the cross may very well have lived and could have performed some miracles during his brief 33 year stint in the flesh but what Frank accomplished in 52 years is a bit more where I put my energy.

There is no need to place Zappalogy inside the scheme of religious doctrine for the power to believe in the l.o.r.d of Zappa's Canon is in general terms the finest optional entertainment that makes the one way trip pleasurable when the world powers are finding every way possible to destroy man.

What happens to your so called spirit when we leave the earth during our brief time is a matter of faith but how I peacefully enjoy myself with Zappa while the world spins on it's seeming last revolutions is my choice regardless of what day of year it is for my faith has been tainted by a Dogmatic Pope Plooking holiday. XMAS has become the bare necessity of survival for the economic agendas of Commercialism.

THX1138 -
You are a true believer. Blessings of the state. Blessings of the masses. Thou art a subject of the divine. Created in the image of man, by man, for man. Let us be thankful we have commerce. Buy more. Buy more now. Buy more and be happy.

The above sounds like Christmas to me.

It was very instructive what Trendmonger shelled mainly for me,an eastern european man.I'm not believer, but I hold the less and less true believer in reverence (any kind of GOD).In Europe religion is not the same thing than in US.(less commercial potential,no TV-missionarist etc.)Simply provoke me the permanent mockery of a thing which is relevant for millions and millions in the world. And always against same church.(Europeans will get it)

Thanks

While I am glad I could help you see what DZ may have been referring to.
BTW had a Hungarian friend growing up on my block here in NYC. He even liked Zappa. Frank Nagy was his name.
Here's one for Frank Nagy.
Frank wherever you are "I got the crystal ball"

I am going to recommend two films

one is THX1138
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066434/

and the other is

Endgame: Blueprint for Global Enslavement (2007)

Life is too short for conspiracy theories.

Making up cutesy holidays is flaky--i.e. hardcore Kate Bush fans who refer to her birthday as Katemas. There's a fine line between admiration and devotion, and a finer line between devotion and obsession.

One of the things Americana' are finding in Iraq is contracted Haliburton trucks that drive up and down Iraqi roads with nothing in then. Haliburton charges the American tax payer. USA's military is a business unit for commerce. They should get the fuck out of there and give military personnel a job building HYDRO Fuel Stations here in major US cities. Believe it or not the US federal government wants to add a 40 cent tax on top of the already ridiculous bottom line for a gallon of gas. We need to stop chasing and buying oil and start implementing massive use of non carbon fuels.

The plan is that the powers of the world will milk the average persons worldly assets and then kill them off to a controllable world population level of 500 Million.

I find Gail's remarks to be suspciously cutesy. If she really wanted to promote a way to remember Frank, she should have been listening to the forum. We discussed that ages ago. That would have been the time to bring it up. Now it is redundant to me. Play my music. That's the way Frank wanted to be remembered. Not with cutesy holidays. Gail Zappa, perpetrator of a new religious sect. Gail Zappa as de pope. Give me a break. She is not even a plausible leader of a cult. Holy war for Frank? Hmmmm, we may be headed that way as it is. Can you heal this breach Mrs. Zappa? You poured the salt into the wound in the first place, so I think not.

True, she is very selective in what she pays attention to.

My friend worked for Halliburton in Wyoming for 6 months. He got 18 wheeler training and licensing for free. Then he walked. Usually people owe 10 grand for that. When he moved from Williamsburg, Brooklyn to work there, all the local armchair radicals (who had always been confused by him) said: "Man, you really are fucked up!"
