My son told me about this up coming tour. This is exciting, we are both fans Zappa and Dreamtheater (my son introduced me to them). See: http://www.progressivenation2009.com/ the are no dates yet but I am sure Chicago will be one of them. It is an "odd" mix of bands, but I guess that is the point.

I guess the cast of characters is the point! But can they play? (besides ZPZ)

Dream Theater can play, yes. In fact, well, I won't say it here.

Dream Theater are very good musicians. Not quite my style of music but I like some of it and dislike none of it. They are well worth watching live.

imo... John Petrucci (DT guitarist) is very talented and an inspirational guitarist, well worth checking out if ya haven't done so yet.
as a band, DT have had some great moments and some not so great, prog rock is not my fav genre but still, a band well worth giving a listen

DT are WELL worth the price of admission. To have DT and ZPZ together is an awesome thing for my family as we are all DT fans and I am working the rest of them into FZ. They did just announce 2 new bands replacing Pain of Salvation and whomever the other band was that was also on the tour. I will most likely arrive just before ZPZ goes on. 2nd row, should be a great show.
