I read that Frank respected Bill, but it's just like you stated, he owned SF, and he thought he either charged too much for the musicians to play there(? unsure, can't find the right phraseology), or that he did'nt give enough money to the musicians for the concerts. i think even The Dead had their financial probs with Mr. Graham from time to time. Great promoter, though...

I heard Bill Graham was kind of an asshole in regards to the way he handled acts.  He tried to monopolize San Francisco.  If an artist played a gig at a venue he did not own, he wouldn't book them at any of his venues.  I could see FZ not appreciating Graham's tactics.<br><br>Also, Graham was associated with The Grateful Dead so maybe that entered into to it, too???

D'ya think he had a sly dig at him in "The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing" as he coincidentally shares a name with one of our favourite Envangelical multi millionaires...

s.f. lacks a decent size concert venue, probably because they don't have a major basketball or hockey franchise, frank would probably play multiple shows at the fillmore, warfield or even the cow palace<br><br><br>great site mtf, kinda pricey but some excellent posters...this one's bizzare:<br><br><br><br>this one's also cool:<br>
